Chrome OS coming to ARM?

Chrome OS coming to ARM?

Many moons ago, Google made it quite clear we wouldn't be seeing its browser-based OS on any tablets or phones, but it never said Chrome OS wouldn't run on devices powered by similar silicon. In fact, the issues tracker at the Chromium OS project shows that work's being done to get Chrome OS compatible with ARM architecture, and in particular a Samsung Exynos 5250 chip. That Sammy silicon appears to be inside a new bit of hardware, codenamed "Daisy," but deeper digging failed to provide further details about the mystery device.

Cloud storage provider SugarSync has already rolled out an updated version of its Android app this month, but it's now already back again with a major new release for iPad users. That comes in the form of the SugarSync 3.0 universal app, but the updates here are all on the iPad side of things, including a completely revamped interface, added gesture support, and generally more effective use of the iPad's added screen real estate.

Paper airplane measures 45-feet long, flies over Arizona desert

It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it is a paper airplane. Yes sir, most of us have had experiences with paper airplanes in classrooms back when we were in schools, colleges or universities, but what happens when you take the dream of a starry eyed kid and turn it into reality – after upsizing it. You would end up with a paper airplane that measures 45 feet long, boasting a 24-foot wingspan while having the ability to fly – unlike the fake flying bird man.

AT&T not pushing out Windows Phone 8107 update

Bad news for Windows Phone users on AT&T: if your smartphone is suffering from the “disappearing keyboard” issue, it looks like you won't be getting the fix for it anytime soon. According to an announcement from the AT&T Community Manager, the carrier has no plans to offer the Windows Phone 8107 update to its subscribers. This would make it the second time that AT&T will be skipping an update, the previous one being update 7740.

LG launches new A540-T/D 3D notebook, adds A540-P IPS model

While LG neatly folded its glasses-free A540-H model into its CES line-up at the start of the year, it's now added another pair of notebooks to launch alongside it in Korea. This includes another 3D model that requires a pair of stylish squash goggles passive 3D glasses to gain that extra dimension. For those less disposed to hanging techno eye-wear off their face and watching Avatar again, there's the simpler two-dimensional joys of the A540-P, which houses a 15.6-inch AH-IPS display. All three versions house the same Core i7 processors and a GeForce GT555M for the necessary graphical grunt work.

Facebook to entice first time buyers of virtual goods with widgets

If you play a lot of games on Facebook, you've probably felt the urge to spend some money on virtual goods to help you progress in the game or dress up your character. Well, it looks like it's going to be even harder to resist the urge now. According to reports online, Facebook has launched a widget for developers to use to entice first-time buyers during the middle of game play. The widget advertises a promotion that Facebook announced last month - where users who have never paid for Facebook games or elements within them get $4 worth of credits or any other in-game currency after buying the first $1.

Infiniti's rival to the BMW 3 Series is known by just one letter – that letter, of course, being G – but the range is expanding beyond the solitary G35 that had been the mainstay of the line for years. The G35 was succeeded by the G37 (pictured above) and recently supplemented by the smaller-displacement G25, but emerging reports indicate that Infiniti has a whole raft of new versions on their way. The report from Car and Driver is bolstered by tell-tale trademark applications for the nameplates G35h, G30t and G22d. The numbers tell us something, but it's the lower-case letters that follow which really indicate what to expect.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 review round-up shows that AMD is in quite some trouble

Nvidia has launched their GeForce GTX 680 high end graphic card in hope to be the king of single-GPU king, and did they succeed. Nvidia told us to expect a 10 to 40 percent performance boost from the $499 GTX 680, versus AMD's pricier Radeon HD 7970, and it appears that was no exaggeration. If you've bought yourself a high-end 28nm AMD card recently, try to hold back those tears until you've glanced over the reviews after the break. Let's just hope for a fairer fight when NVIDIA's mainstream and low-end cards come out to tackle AMD's 7800- and 7700-series — and hey, some timely price drops could help to balance things too.

Spring means lots of things to lots of people, but for Jeep owners, this time of year points to just one main event on the calendar: Easter Jeep Safari. This year, Jeep and Mopar have put their heads together to create another group of awesome concepts. All told, the automaker will roll out six new vehicles in the desert, including the Jeep Wrangler Apache, Jeep J-12 and Jeep Mighty FC concepts – the last of which is pictured above. We can't say much about what the Apache will bring to the table, but the J-12 looks to pay homage to the old Kaiser Jeep M715.

About a week ago it was revealed that AT&T let slip an upgrade to Android 4.0 for some HTC Vivid. Whether it was an accident or a test, it doesn't matter now – everyone should be able to pull the OTA update. It'll step you up to Android 4.0, of course, but there are other details you'll want to know about. As rumors have suggested, the device will only get HTC Sense 3.6 instead of the massive Sense 4.o update that can be found on the HTC One devices. This is due to the device not having an S4 or Tegra 3 processor.

Scientific proof that red meat makes you happy, that's why bodybuilders are so angry

There's plenty of anecdotal evidence to suggest that a big, juicy hunk of steak makes you happier. But now there's scientific proof, too; according to a new study, consumption of red meat halves the risk of depression. The study, carried out at Deakin University in Victoria, Australia, confirms that people who avoid red meat are at increased risk of clinical depression. Admittedly the study was only conducted in a population of women, but I'm willing to extrapolate in this case.

Patent applications are full of hope and broken dreams, as it's far too easy to let a rampant imagination read beyond the layers of patent-attorney penned boilerplate. In the realm of the realistic, this application from Microsoft concerns a head-mounted display with a narrow-beam laser packing two dilation optics (us neither). If you then variate the diffraction grating between the two eyepieces, you create a three-dimensional virtual reality display.

Angry Birds Space will feature new characters, a new physics engine as well as an entirely new environment. Sony: compact cameras are doing well

Despite every smartphone on the market featuring an onboard camera, it looks like they aren't replacing compact cameras just yet - at least that's what Sony UK thinks. Speaking to TechRadar, the company believes that despite the drop in sales in recent months (it dropped by around 30% last year), the DSC (digital stills camera) “is in a pretty healthy state”. Other manufacturers have pulled out of the low-end market because of disappointing results but with reports of increased sales of higher end compacts, it looks like companies will be focusing on them instead.
