myPlex makes streaming your media simple, gives you one queue to rule them all

Plex is one of the more popular solutions to the problem of how to get all that (legally downloaded, of course) media sitting on your home PC to your various devices for consumption. But, like many of its competitors, getting the whole shebang set up isn't always the easiest task. The company's new myPlex platform aims to solve this conundrum, and adds a few welcome features along the way. Now, setting up a server or a client is as simple as logging in to your Plex account - no matter how many of either part of the media-streaming equation you may have.

Did the Nokia Lumia 710 pass through the FCC?

Nokia Shows Waterproofing Tech for Future Phones

Nokia Shows Waterproofing Tech for Future Phones

Another booth stands out during Nokia World, wherein a new technology could solve the problem about dropping your Nokia phones to the toilet. Nokia introduces a “super” waterproof coating that binds a layer of nanotubes to the surface of its devices, creating a protective layer that bounces water away. Although the nanotube layer works most effectively with water, the treated surface can also repel other liquids and even fingerprints.

Even if it doesn't, at the very least it will go out with Gingerbread onboard.

AUO's flexible e-paper to take on Stretch Armstrong in battle of the bendiest

There's nothing better than unplugging on a Sunday afternoon with a newspaper and a cup of Joe, which is exactly what AU Optronics hopes to facilitate with its 6-inch Rollable Organic TFT E-paper. We've heard rumblings about the foldable photovoltaic device before, but the company has finally delivered a working prototype that is completely solar powered and elastic enough to make even Gumby jealous. Made of organic TFTs, the SVGA e-paper has an amorphous silicon PV battery, which turns natural or indoor light into solar energy without requiring a power plug. The only downside.

Licensed '65 Ford Mustang Convertible body shell is the ultimate repro

Ford has officially added another model to the company's licensed reproduction steel body shells. Those looking to spin their own wrenches toward restoring a 1964 1x2, 1965 or 1966 Mustang Convertible can snap up a brand-new body from Dynacorn that uses higher-quality steel and more modern welding techniques than the originals. Even better, every last inch of the piece comes rustproofed straight from the factory. That means you can save the pennies and time you would have blown on cutting out cancer (rust and rot) and welding in new pieces and put both toward designing the perfect 289 for your build.

Wearable light organ activated by sound

Wearable light organ activated by sound

Do you feel that you have a little bit of extra time on your hands this coming weekend. If you have answered in the affirmative, then perhaps you might want to check out this particular DIY project – which is a wearable light organ that can be activated by sound. Measuring roughly the size of a couple of 9V batteries (while running on one, of course), the Light Organ that you see here is not only portable but fun. Right smack in the middle of things to keep it groovy and funky would be the LM324 Integrated Circuit (IC), which is actually the black chip in the middle of the board.

Sony Reader Wi-Fi (PRS-T1) eBook Reader Review

Every year I've been writing for The Gadgeteer, I've reviewed the newest Sony ebook reader.  I admit I have moved on to reading mostly on my iPad 2, and I did just buy a Kindle, but I couldn't let the new Sony reader pass without giving it a look.  For many years, starting with the PRS-500, my Sony readers were my most beloved gadgets.  I loved the sleek, strong metal chassis.  I loved being able to store dozens of books in memory, and I didn't mind at all that I had to connect my Sony to my computer to get new books.

Volkswagen still recommends Internet Explorer 6, we still use XP

A recent discovery made by Geek.com shows that, for example, Volkswagen tells its supplier partners that the best way to use its website is, in fact, IE6. Of course, the recommendation only applies to vwgroupsupply.com, not the general vw.com website. You could be making fun of VW and how it tells its partners to use a decade-old browser, while Microsoft spends millions of dollars in an effort to convince users that IE6 is risky to use and IE9, or, at the very least, IE8, is a much better choice.

Windows Phone Mango heads for virtually all devices

It seems that the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update is now on its way to all compatible devices – now does that mean some devices will not receive it. Yes, in the most basic of terms, those that are not compatible, meaning older models, will most probably miss out on the Mango boat. We do know that Microsoft has already started delivering Windows Phone 7.5 to the LG Optimus 7 phones on Telefonica in Spain, and the team is also on schedule to greet owners of the Samsung Omnia 7 handset over at Deutsche Telekom with a similar bounty.

Electric DeLorean DMC-12 prototype goes round and round (and round) in test drive video

It's already clear that you're selling everything you own in an effort to purchase a 2013 DeLorean DMC-12 EV (and in turn, apply for a home tax deduction when you begin to live out of it), but what hasn't been clear is exactly how it'd perform on the wide open road. Truthfully, we still aren't entirely certain of that, but thanks to a raucous new video of a prototype on the track, we do know that it looks like the most (PG) fun you can have while sitting atop four wheels. We aren't going to hold you here any longer - hop on past the break and mash play. 60mph in 4.9.

Canon S100 hands-on (video)

We managed to sneak in a bit of hands-on time with the Powershot S100 here at PhotoPlus in Manhattan. The followup to Canon's S95 is a fairly slick point-and-shoot. It's not the most compact camera in its space, but the new Powershot is surprisingly lightweight. It's got a healthy 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor with improved low-light performance and a 5x optical zoom, the latter of which could certainly do with a bump. The S100 captures 1080p HD video and sports a convenient, dedicated movie button (no switching modes here).

HP will keep PC division, hope alive

HP will keep PC division, hope alive

There's been plenty of speculation about what the future holds for HP and its Personal Systems Group - a group that CEO Leo Apotheker seemed intent to shed - but the crew now led by CEO Meg Whitman has just confirmed that division is staying home, where it belongs. Meg says the company "objectively evaluated" the idea of spinning PSG off but decided that keeping it in-house is "right for customers and partners, right for shareholders, and right for employees." Or, maybe her reserve wasn't met.

Logitech Revue Boxes Showing it Has “Android 3.1 and Android Market”

Looks like the Android 3.0+ Honeycomb update for the Logitech Revue (and all Google TV devices) is near completion. New boxes have reportedly hit store shelves showing that the Logitech Revue now comes with Android 3.1 and the Android market. Unfortunately, these don't actually come with Honeycomb yet. These specially marked boxes were put out prematurely and they weren't meant to be sold until the upgrade is actually available. But since these are shipping to stores we have a feeling we aren't far off from that happening. Now might be as good a time as any to pick one up for $99.

Apple's TV could be powered by Siri

Apple's TV could be powered by Siri

There has been murmurings that Apple plans to launch an Apple television set perhaps next year. Rumors of such a product have been sprouting ever since a quote from Walter Isaacson's biography of Steve Jobs led many to believe that an Apple TV is in the works. But what so interesting about an Apple TV. Well apart from it probably sporting a sleek and elegant design that is Apple's trademark, it seems that Siri could be what sets Apple's TV apart from the competition.
Siri is probably Apple's new favorite feature which they couldn't help but show off during the iPhone event which was held nearly a month ago.

EPA says Fisker Karma is a 2.5-ton subcompact

EPA says Fisker Karma is a 2.5-ton subcompact

The Fisker Karma is 16.5 feet long and tips the scales at 5,300 pounds. Sounds more like a 1960s Lincoln than an extended-range green machine capable of 32 miles on electric power alone, doesn't it. Actually, if you ask the Environmental Protection Agency, the Karma is a lot more like a subcompact. That's because the Karma features interior volume of less than 100 cubic feet, and Auto Observer reminds us that the EPA classifies vehicles based on cabin volume. This odd determinant of vehicle size means that the Aston Martin Rapide, Ford Mustang and the Bentley Continental Convertible are all subcompacts.

Grace One City e-motorbike review

There comes a time in nearly every person's life when they need to get up, get out the door and get to work. Some drive, some walk, some take one form of public transportation or another - but a noble few do something different. Those people ride their bikes, holding on to the passion gained in a childhood of racing around the neighborhood on Huffys and Schwinns, skinning knees or elbows when the latest attempt at a sweet jump turned a little sour. Sure, those people may say they're saving money or the environment by riding a bike into work, but we all know they do it for fun.
