Gresso's $3000 bumber case for iPhone 5

Gresso's $3000 bumber case for iPhone 5

Today is probably the best time for iPhone accessory makers to promote their product or brand. In this case, Gresso is coming out with a $3000 iPhone 5 bumper case aimed at the 0.1%. I've seen aluminum case like this go for $250 in Japan and I thought that it was already ridiculous. However Gresso has up the ante with a $3000 titanium case that will be manufactured in a limited edition (999 units).
It is said that the case of this titanium bumber case is very nice and comes with silk and all. Yep, I guess that Gresso can afford this.

Western Digital MyBook VelociRaptor Duo: Thunderbolt, 2TB capacity, and a whopping $900 price tag

If you fancy Western Digital's MyBook Tunderbolt Duo, the outfit has just announced a new external storage offering that also sports the aforementioned connection. The MyBook VelociRaptor Duo packs two 1TB 10,000 RPM WD drives that carry the same prehistoric moniker - as the name suggests (in both cases). These dual heavy-hitters create a 2TB repository for HD video, 3D rendering and the like while boasting SSD-like speeds of up to 400MB/sec and both RAID 0 and RAID 1 configurations. Of course, if one of these drives isn't taxing enough on your savings account, you can daisy chain a few for a more robust storage setup.

Nissan DeltaWing headed back into the fray, will race at Petit Le Mans (video)

The racing world has not seen the last of the DeltaWing. Nissan's dart-shaped moldbreaker was last seen at Le Mans in June, where the prototype racer was accidentally taken out of competition by a Toyota prototype. Driver Satoshi Motoyama famously tried in vain to resuscitate his damaged racer for 45 minutes, a struggle that has since been labeled by many as one of the most heroic and touching "agony of defeat" moments in motorsports history.

Casio's Exilim EX-H50 superzooms its way to Photokina, we go hands-on (video)

Looking for a superzoom camera without the bulk of a DSLR. Casio's Exilim EX-H50 is a pretty slick proposition. The camera's got a reasonably slim profile that's a bit more like an oversized point-and-shoot, slight bulk that's presently largely because of the extended soft grip and big three-inch TFT display on the rear - and then, of course, there's that 25 mm wide-angle lens with 24x optical zoom that certainly adds a good deal to the camera's footprint when extended. The flash adds a bit too, but that'll lay dormant until you pop it out via the devoted switch just to the left of the bump, on top of the camera.

Things seem to get better and better for soldiers on the battlefield as more and more technology start to take their rightful place. The Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) recently combined soldiers brains to technology successfully, where a massive 120-megapixel camera as well as multiple computers running complex cognitive algorithms, known as a “cybernetic hivemind”, will work in tandem to sort out potential threats on the battlefield in double quick time. Basically, a soldier will remain seated in front of a computer monitor while having an EEG strapped to his head.

And here at Pepcom's event in New York City, Cricket's showing off two newly announced phones - both from OEMs that haven't quite achieved household name recognition. The powerfully named devices - ZTE Engage and Alcatel Authority - are actually rather modest in the spec department. ZTE's handset sport a 4-inch WVGA display, an 8-megapixel rear camera and runs a vanilla version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich atop a single-core CPU clocked at 1.4GHz.

ZTE Anthem 4G unveiled for MetroPCS, has us singing a dual-core, LTE tune for $219

Although ZTE is no stranger to the US, it hasn't been as quick to embrace LTE-based 4G as some of its rivals. The new Anthem 4G for MetroPCS puts the company back in sync, and then some. In addition to the faster speeds, the company's first American LTE phone touts a comparatively speedy dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, a 4.3-inch, 800 x 480 screen and perks like HDMI video output with Dolby Surround sound. Our only immediate reservation is the use of Android 2.3, which really shouldn't be on any shipping devices almost two years after it first left Google's doors.

Recently the Caledonia, Minn. Police Department took delivery of a new Ford Crown Victoria (curiously, CV production ended in September of 2011) police cruiser. This got the attention of not only the local criminals, but it apparently piqued the interest of the Houston County Sheriff's Department, too. Just like in high school, when another kid gets a new car, there's gonna be talk about whose car is faster. So according to reports, a Caledonia officer and a Houston County deputy lined up on a local airport runway to pit the county's Dodge Charger against the city's new Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor.

. Things just aren't going well for Nokia (NOK) these days. Bloomberg reports that the Finnish electronics manufacturer will be conducting a full self-evaluation to determine “why the company published misleading marketing materials.” The misleading materials in question were a promotional video and several still shots of pictures that many assumed had been taken with Nokia's new Lumia 920 smartphone. But when it turned out that the video and pictures were not actually filmed with the new Lumia phone, Nokia had to issue a series of embarrassing apologies for misleading consumers.

A Kindle HD 7″ has landed in the office, and we are clearly going to publish a full review of the device. In the meantime, here is a video and some photos from the unboxing session. To be frank, there is not much to see as the packaging is truly minimalist, and inside there is not much besides the tablet itself and a cable. To cut on costs, even the power supply is sold separately (it's good to know) — although most people may already have some USB power source anyway.
The 7″ tablet is reasonably thin and light and the design is clean (let us know what you think by dropping a comment).

DECam: Gazing deep into the final frontier in search of dark energy

The National Optical Astronomy Observatory (NOAO) puts it into perspective right away: "Eight billion years ago, rays of light from distant galaxies began their long journey to Earth." It's important to hold that fact in mind, as we marvel at the first images from deep in the belly of our universe to arrive from the Chile-based Dark Energy Camera (DECam). As that name might suggest, peering at remote galaxies for purely visual gratification isn't the camera's primary purpose. The result of eight years of planning and hard work, involving engineers and scientists from three continents, the DECam is mounted on the Victor M.
