World of Warcraft lost over 1 million subscribers this year

Activision Blizzard on Tuesday announced better-than-expected Q3 2011 net revenues and earnings, reporting that the company delivered GAAP net revenues of $754 million, as compared with $745 million for the third quarter of 2010. This gain was achieved via digital channels, accounting for more than 57-percent of the company's total net revenues. However in a conference call following the Q3 2011 results announcement, Blizzard Entertainment CEO Mike Morhaime admitted that World of Warcraft's subscription count continues to fall, dropping from 11.1 million subscribers in June to 10.3 million in September — a 7 percent drop.

Adobe product manager fingers Apple for death of Flash Player for mobile

Adobe's battles with Apple haven't exactly been a secret over the past couple of years, but the death of Flash Player for mobile has once again brought that drama to the fore. Mike Chambers, a lead product manager for Flash, took to his personal site today to shed some light on Adobe's rapid descent, pointing the finger squarely at Apple's refusal to adopt the player in its mobile OS. He had this to say:.

Verizon Motorola Droid RAZR offered to new customers by Amazon for just $111.11, today only

Today's the big day when the Motorola Droid RAZR went on sale, as we told you earlier. Now this is a high-end superphone indeed, and a very thin one at that, but Verizon chose to price it rather bullishly at $299.99. If you think that's a bit much for a handset, considering that you still need to sign a new two-year contract with the carrier, then we have some good news – but only if you act fast. Apparently Amazon thought that Verizon and Motorola's playful release timing for the Droid RAZR (11x11x11 at 11:11 am) was cute, and the well known retailer decided to play too.

Logitech's new CEO sees the failures of the Revue clearly in hindsight and doesn't plan a sequel

After the Logitech Revue lost the CEO who spearheaded its progression into the marketplace and saw its price drop from $299 to $99, it's probably not that surprising to hear the new company leader isn't entirely enthusiastic about it. Guerrino De Luca told investors during the company's earnings call back on October 29th that Logitech would not be building a successor to the Revue and it would be "on the bench" waiting for an opportunity to build peripherals to present itself.

Satellite phone communications suddenly booming

Iridium, (which was a catastrophic failure just over a decade ago as Motorola's $5 billion satellite went down in flames and was sold to an investor for just $25 million), has established itself as a solid business. The network has grown under our radar to more than 500,000 subscribers over the past 11 years and posted $146.1 million of revenue and $11.7 million of profit for the third quarter. For the satellite phone industry, this is a stunning result.

Adobe confirms Flash Player is dead for mobile devices

Some people are hoping for it, while others are expecting it in one way or another, and now here's the confirmation: Flash Player for mobile devices is officially dead. Adobe is reaffirming its commitment to “aggressively contribute” to HTML5, a platform with broader support and capabilities than Flash was ever able to deliver. Adobe will of course also be pushing developers to work in its AIR platform for a more native experience, and the company will continue to work on Flash Player for desktop operating systems, but one can't help but see the platform as a whole standing on fairly shaky footing at this point.

Like the eyes of a creepy painting, the Swivl follows you around the room. Swivl is a neat little camera stand which will follow you around the room. It consists of two parts: the motorized stand itself, and a remote marker. The stand “sees” the marker and two motors — tilt and spin — move to follow it.

It works with any camera that has a tripod mount. Just hold the marker or clip it to your clothes and the camera will follow your every move.

Compatible with Windows Phone 7.5 or higher, Tango for Mango allows users to make free phone and video calls over 3G, 4G and WiFi connections, including free international calls to fellow Tangonians. Users can also chat with Tango members across other operating systems and platforms, which should help tide them over until that Skype integration becomes a reality.

Back in the days before there was this thing called computers, all “data”, or rather, information would be the better word to use, came in hardcopy formats. As in, you needed to file these away in their very own binders, and looking for a document could take you eons if you had a library to search simply because there is no real life F3 key apart from your memory. Well, glad to know that information storage has turned digital over the years, and we now have another problem on hand – how the heck are we supposed to be able to keep track of all the data we have accumulated over our lifetime.

When Motor Trend tecnical director Frank Markus decided he needed to get away, you should know that his 'time out' wouldn't merely be a weekend at the local hot springs or camping down by the river. We'd love to tell you about it but we'd be remiss – the story is worth the read and the video, after the jump, is even moreso worth the watch.

It's another nail in the coffin of expensive, dirty, smelly physical cash and coins. PayPal has released the 3.0 version of its Android app and, through that, users can directly exchange money from one NFC-equipped phone to another. Just add the Request Money widget to your (probably already rather cluttered) desktop, type in an amount, then pick up your Nexus S and do a little fist bump with your best bro's celly — assuming said bro has a similarly near field communication-equipped Android device.
