Nexus 5 Gets Bluetooth SIG Approval

Nexus 5 Gets Bluetooth SIG Approval

It does seem as though the Nexus 5 is right on track with word that it has already received approval from the folks over at the Bluetooth SIG, as there are rumors going around that Google might be looking at an October 15th release date. Should the rumors pan out to be true, it would also mean that the Nexus 5 would be introduced alongside Android 4.4 KitKat, the latest operating system. This particular device had already received FCC approval (or at least, it allegedly did), and having made it past through the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) would more or less signal the fact that this smartphone is very close to an official rollout.

Latest rumor running around the mill today is that Google is preparing to debut the Nexus 5  — along with the next version of Android 4.4 KitKat — during an October 15th event. This alleged date is coming from a developer who, after attending the Google Launchpad campfire event for devs and startups, was tipped off about the Tuesday reveal. During the 2-week event, attendees were served slices of Key Lime Pie along with Kit Kat bars (not a good mix), but festive none the less.

HTC One Max Fingerprint Sensor Might Allow Users To Launch Apps

There has been no shortage of HTC One Max rumors over the past few months. Time and time again we've heard that HTC is working on a super sized version of its popular One smartphone. The latest rumor suggests that the fingerprint sensor on HTC One Max, which is expected to be on its back, will allow users to launch apps by just using their fingers. This would be a rather interesting use of the fingerprint sensor, quite different from what Apple lets users do with Touch ID, which is just limited to locking and unlocking the device and authorizing iTunes purchases right now.

Esquire holds an annual car of the year award, and for the past four years, only American or German autos, such as the Cadillac ATS and the Audi S4, have earned the publication's top pick. But for 2013, the top pick is from Japan: the 2014 Lexus IS350 F Sport. The publication calls the IS "thrilling first, responsible second.".

HTC could be ready to be acquired... by Lenovo?

HTC could be ready to be acquired... by Lenovo?

HTC can't seem to find the formula for success in the mobile market, reporting losses quarter over quarter. There is no easy formula for a market in which the top 3 manufacturer is doing bad. Samsung and Apple are pretty much the only ones doing well and something has to be done. Could an acquisition be the best solution for HTC.
Recent rumors assure that HTC has been meeting with Lenovo for a possible acquisition that would conclude during the first half of 2014. It's said these meetings have been held since August, 2013. What exactly could be happening here?

We know HTC is not at its best, but we didn't think they could be that hurt yet.

Truckers planning three-day slowdown protest around DC

Semi-trucks and their drivers are the lifeblood of our economy, hauling all the goods we use on a daily basis. A group of such truckers have decided to stage a protest against many of the current practices of our government. This weekend, the Ride for the Constitution (formerly called Truckers to Shut Down America) will lead a convoy of trucks to Interstate 495 around Washington, D.C. where they will drive 55 miles per hour taking up all lanes of traffic.
According to USA Today, the group is expecting around 3,000 truckers to participate in the protest that will run from October 11-13.

Rockstar Suggests Fix For GTA Online Missing Character Bug

It's completely unsurprising to hear Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto Online has launched with a few issues over the past week that made it nearly impossible for most people to get in on the online mayhem. To Rockstar's credit, the company has been very vocal in regards to their attempts to help resolve any issues gamers have had with the game, although Grand Theft Auto Online is still suffering from some issues, the latest of which includes losing characters and progress. Rockstar has been investigating what could be causing this particular issue and they look to have found an easy enough resolution.

LG Chem Announces Production Of Curved Batteries

LG Chem Announces Production Of Curved Batteries

Recently LG Display announced that they would be mass producing flexible OLED displays for smartphones, and now it looks like another LG division has something to boast as LG Chem has announced that they will begin the production of curved batteries, which presumably will allow smartphone manufacturers, such as themselves, to design and manufacturer uniquely designed smartphones. These batteries will use LG's patented "Stack and Folding" technology that will be able to be used to power smartphones, watches, or even glasses (is LG hinting at a Google Glass competitor?).

Coca-Cola Reveals Ekocenter For Developing Communities That Provides WiFi

While most of us living in metropolitan areas have access to WiFi, food, clean water, and electricity, there are parts of the world where such things are considered luxuries, but Coca-Cola is hoping to change that with small shop setups that they are referring to as Ekocenters. These little shops will be opened in developing communities where it will provide residents with WiFi, clean water, power, vaccines, cooked meals, and of course access to Cola-Cola products.

AMD's graphics card comeback: the new R7 series, R9 series and Mantle

AMD's graphics card comeback: the new R7 series, R9 series and Mantle

Project Mantle. The reasoning behind Mantle runs something like this: Historically, in terms of game graphics, consoles have been able to do more with less, because game developers were able to tune their code at a very deep level to the unchanging silicon architecture at the heart of each generation of machine. PCs, by contrast, did less with more: they had upgradeable silicon that tended to be more powerful, but they were held back by traditional, GPU-agnostic programming tools like DirectX and OpenGL.

Samsung Galaxy Note Mini Reportedly Being Tested In India

Samsung Galaxy Note Mini Reportedly Being Tested In India

Sometimes, it pays to look out for tiny small details in life, as it is more often than not these little details which have been overlooked that have proven to be the downfall for many. On a far more positive note, sniffing out little details will also allow one to come to some pre-conceived conclusions based on existing information, such as the latest snippets from Zauba. Zauba happens to be a website which will keep track of imports as well as exports to and from India, where according to the site, there has been a shipment from Delhi Air Cargo that sported a pair of mobile devices, and these featured the model number SM-P601.

What you see above is actually a snapshot of a video that depicted a certain Shepard Smith making a tour of the Fox News deck, and boy is it a drool-worthy experience that would make even the most technologically phobic person feel this skip in his or her her that has never been felt before. After all, who would not want to have large 55" touchscreen displays as their workstation of choice.

Ringo Starr's Facel Vega could raise half million at auction

Ringo Starr's Facel Vega could raise half million at auction

John, Paul, George and Ringo, the four men that made up The Beatles, lived in an interesting time when it came to the cars on offer. Power was cheap and fuel was cheaper, while the designs were some of the finest in automotive history. With fame and money, they could have nearly any car the 1960s auto industry could come up with, up to and including what you see above – a 1964 Facel Vega Facel II. This particular example was owned by Ringo Starr, and will be going up for auction at Bonhams in London, on Sunday, December 1.
