Moto X will be announced on August 1

Moto X will be announced on August 1

OK, it's finally over. The endless speculation game about when Motorola would finally unveil the Moto X has concluded. That's because the now Google-owned company has finally decided to come clean, and let everybody know that August 1 is the big date. So go, write that down somewhere.
This also clears up a misconception – namely that Google's July 24 event may have anything to do with the Moto X. It may be owned by Google, but Motorola is a separate company, and Google has been trying very hard to show the other Android device makers that there's a ‘Chinese wall' between the Android division and Motorola.

Land Rover LR4 getting facelift and interior refresh

Land Rover LR4 getting facelift and interior refresh

Land Rover is preparing a slight freshening of the its seven-passenger, mid-range LR4 (known outside of North America as the Discovery 4). The LR4/Disco 4 is currently the second oldest model in the Land Rover range, besides the mostly forgotten LR2/Freelander, and while it's still a competent entry, its age is beginning to show. This refresh should allow it to soldier on until a replacement can be built, which logic would dictate is to be called LR5/Discovery 5. Until then, the current SUV gets the typical batch of headlight tweaks, along with a freshened front bumper.

GlassUp, Another Augmented Reality Startup, Would Also Like Some of Google's Milkshake.

Yet another player is joining Meta, Japan's Telepathy One, China's (allegedly real) Baidu Eye, and big Google's Glass at the face-mounted AR table. GlassUp, the newest kid in town, claims precedent on the concept. Google just shrugs and pays its legal retainer. · · ·

First of all, as contemplated here before, and as we all learned from the The Great Virtual Boy Tragedy of 1995, it could be, it just might be, that aside from early adopters, the geek elite, and a tiny slice of industry – nobody really wants the PIA of having AR in their glasses.

Google's Larry Page Is Excited About The Upcoming Moto X

We're sure many of you guys are wondering what exactly Motorola has up their sleeves with the upcoming Moto X. Rumored specs unfortunately don't seem too exciting, although rumors of the device apparently available in wood, ceramic, and metals does sound like an interesting idea, but apparently the device is good enough where Google's CEO, Larry Page, has expressed his excitement over it.

Rumor: HTC will update Snapdragon S4 powered HTC One S to Android 4.2

According to @LlabTooFeR, the HTC One S Android 4.2.2 update with Sense 5 is back on the table. The  HTC One S was originally slated to receive the Android 4.2 update long with the HTC One X, HTC reversed the decision on July 2. No reason was given, but details in @LlabTooFeR's tweet which calls out the Ville and Ville C2 line up perfectly with information we have received from one of our sources. A source familiar with the matter has confirmed to us that HTC chose to scrap the Android 4.2 update for the HTC One S due to the Qualcomm S3 HTC One S C2 (Ville C2) variant which was released in Asian and select eastern European markets.

Plants Vs. Zombies: Lawnmageddon Comic Now On iOS

Have you ever played Plants vs. Zombies. Now this is definitely a very strange combination when you think about it, especially when you consider how most of the zombie apocalypse scenarios that we have come across tend to be dark, and all other peripheral characters tend to kick the bucket once they have served their purpose in the storyline. Not so with the Plants vs. Zombies scenario, as it offers a more comical insight to the genre, and a comic book adaptation of PopCap Games' title is now made available on iOS with Dark Horse Comics as the publisher.

The next Nexus 7 gets leaked pricing info, may be announced on July 24 at Google event

Probably the most anticipated tablet of this summer is the next iteration of Google's Nexus 7. Purported details about this device have been leaked numerous times so far, but we didn't have a price or an announcement date to speak of until now. Well, sort of. The 16 GB new model is apparently going to cost $229, according to what is supposedly a screengrab of inventory software from an unnamed retailer. The 32 GB unit will go for $269.

Unfortunately there's no additional info on this list, as you can see – just the ‘quad core' mention which is useless since the first generation Nexus 7 used a quad-core chipset too.

If Martha Stewart was a gadgeteer, she'd make this Phono Horn for her iPhone

Ok kiddies, it's time to put on your Martha Stewart apron and bust out some scissors, glue and construction paper so you can make this cool (and free) sound amplifying dock for your smartphone. Consider this as an upgrade to the DIY Styrofoam Cup Sound Amplifier idea that we brought you a few weeks ago. A free PDF template and step-by-step pictorial instructions are currently available for the Samsung Galaxy S2, S4 and the iPhone 4s from Robives.com. The instructions make the project look a little time consuming and complicated, but hey, it's free and very unique.

Altima Coupe dead as Nissan charts the changes for 2014

The 2014 model year brings plenty of new designs and updates from Nissan – including the next-generation Rogue – but the Altima Coupe has been discontinued. The current generation of the Coupe won buyers over with sharp styling and, at one point, a 270-horsepower naturally aspirated V6 – the heart of the more upscale Infinity G37. It's unlikely that Nissan plans to make another one, but keep in mind the current Coupe was released to the public about a year after the sedan hit dealerships.

HTC One users are anxiously waiting for the Android 4.2 update. The update has long been rumored, HTC confirmed it multiple times that it would be releasing Android 4.2 for HTC One soon. The update has started rolling out in Taiwan as well as various other regions, though for U.S. customers it might take some time before the update drops through wireless carriers. Sprint HTC One users will get an over-the-air update notification today, though they shouldn't get their hopes up because its not going to be Android 4.2.

SEGA has announced that the Wii U as well as Nintendo 3DS versions of Sonic Lost World will roll out in North America this coming October 22nd, and for our friends who happen to live across the pond, we are disappointed to say that no release date in Europe has been confirmed just yet, although it would not be too surprising to see it launch just a few days afterwards. The US release date was divulged in the most recent trailer of the game, where the Sonic Lost World trailer showed off the new Color powers that has been endowed on Sonic in the soon-to-arrive platformer.

With a little less than half a year left to go in 2013, we don't expect Nokia to be sitting on their laurels and obviously the Finnish company has more Lumia devices up their sleeves, and thanks to a post from a Chinese website, a certain Lumia device by the moniker "Lumia 625" has been revealed. Of course the handset has yet to be confirmed by Nokia, and there's no word if this will make its way stateside or if it will be a China exclusive, but based on its specs, it is not a variant of the Lumia 620.

Lexus' LFA Works now making carbon fiber bicycles... kind of

The LFA Works that produced the Lexus LFA hasn't had too much to do since the 500th example of the V10 supercar left the plant on December 15, 2012. So what are a bunch of carbon fiber experts meant to do with their time when they have some of the world's most advanced CFRP machinery but no engine to wrap it with. Why, make a bicycle, of course - and not just any bicycle, but the kind that costs one million Japanese yen ($10,000 US) and of which only 100 will be made. Only they didn't really "make" it – the carbon fiber frame was sourced from Takumi, in Taiwan.

Samsung Galaxy Folder is on the way. Low end Android clamshell for Korea

Do you remember when you last used a clamshell phone. In the last few years, full touch screen slabs more or less killed once popular mobile phone form factor. And now Samsung wants to revive it.
Multiple Korean sites today are quoting an unnamed Samsung executive, who says that in a few weeks Sammy will launch a new Android clamshell device called Galaxy Folder in Korea.

Galaxy Folder will come with traditional T9 phone keypad, LTE support, Snapdragon S4 dual core CPU and new user interface designed for mobile folding and smallish 800x480px display.

Verizon VZ Edge Program Announced

Verizon VZ Edge Program Announced

Verizon has already introduced some major changes to the way their customers are able to enjoy phone upgrades this year, and it does seem as though Verizon is not quite done and over with this "revamp" just yet. There was a leaked document that revealed that Verizon intends to roll out a spanking new program that they call "VZ Edge", where VZ Edge will allow customers to spread out the full cost of a device, followed by making an upgrade jump to a new one at any time right after half the amount of that particular device has been paid up – which means, you might not even need to go through the full 2 year contract that most folks do.

We all know that electric cars are great for the environment, but there lies a rather inconvenient issue – powering it up anytime, anywhere. After all, electric charging stations are not exactly the most popular public buildings around the world now, is it. You know what they say – it is times like these that one ought to think out of the box, and Synthesis Design + Architecture has decided that the best way to avoid your electric ride from dying out in the middle of nowhere is to cram an entire solar-powered pavilion into your vehicle's boot – using it only when necessary as it can be rapidly deployed.
