At Tesla's event, CEO Elon Musk has finally taken the wraps off of its Superchargers which it has already set up at six locations in California, pictured in the map after the break. The company plans installations on "high traffic corridors across the US" over the next year, with units heading to Europe and Asia in the second half of 2013. According to Musk, the solar powered systems will put more power back into the grid than the cars use while driving. Oh, and for you Model S owners. You will always be able to charge at any of the stations for free.

Hyundai and Ark Performance tune Genesis Coupe R-Spec for SEMA

We haven't finished preparing for this week's Paris Motor Show, but it seems it's already time to start prepping for SEMA. We're getting to the point where it just wouldn't be a trip to Vegas without a pile of tuned Hyundai cars, and this year's bonanza begins with a Genesis Coupe R-Spec with a serious hotting-up courtesy of ARK. Leaving no doubt that this is not a car for getting groceries, carbon fiber accessories like a front splitter with winglets, new hood, and rear overfenders under the decklid and wing have been draped outside.

You might find them in restaurants but they're usually there for decorative purposes. Well if you'd like to spice up your home decoration with something a little more vintage, then this rotary dial iPhone dock might be worth taking a look at. These aren't mass produced and are instead put together by Bryan Sharp over at Rotary Revival where he creates these iPhone docks using whatever junk phones he comes across.

iPhone 5 pre-order shipping time estimates slip to 2 weeks

So we reported earlier that pre-orders for Apple's new iPhone 5 had gone live. Well despite sentiments online which displayed the disappointment of many hopefuls regarding the iPhone 5, it looks like the numbers don't lie and if you weren't quick enough to place your pre-order in a timely manner, you're going to have to wait a little longer for your iPhone 5 to arrive. Yup it looks like estimated shipping times for the US, UK, Canada, Germany and Australia have now slipped to a 2 weeks waiting time which means that those who purchase now might have to wait an additional 2 weeks after the official release on the 21st.

Early iOS 6 jailbreak released, but only works on three old Apple devices

. That was quick. iOS 6.0 has barely been out for 24 hours and there is already a tethered jailbreak for it. The iPhone Dev-Team's “redsn0w 0.9.13dev4″ can now be used to get Cydia and its library of unauthorized apps and system tweaks onto A4-powered devices that include the iPhone 4, iPod touch (fourth-generation) and iPhone 3GS. The jailbreak is a tethered one, though, meaning users will have to connect their iOS devices to a computer every single time they want to reboot them. For most people, a tethered jailbreak is simply unacceptable, but fret not, because there's an untethered solution in the works.

Citing its three main areas of focus as protecting internet freedom, fostering innovation and economic growth, and empowering users, the Internet Association will represent regulatory and political interests of its member companies, and their employees.

We've told you about several portable scanners, and readers have said they simply use their phone's camera to snap a shot.  I've tried the photo approach, but I often end up with a crooked image or a dark place that obscures some of the image.  That's fine for casual use, but it won't work so well when you need something more professional looking.  With the portable StandScan, you can ensure that your snapped copies look as professional as possible.  Unfold the StandScan Pro, place your smartphone on top (must have a back camera), and place your original on the platform below.

Now the organization behind the format has announced its latest revision, the CFast2.0 specification, which it hopes will find its way into future digital cameras and other professional video devices. The big news with it is a promised "theoretical" performance of up to 600MB/sec, which is about four times faster than today's CompactFlash cards, as well as a new sleep mode that promises to help conserve battery life when the card is not in use.

Apple patent application has iPhones text when calls don't reach spotty coverage areas

If you're already using Android 4.0 or iOS 6, you're likely familiar with the option to send a pre-made text reply to incoming calls you can't take. But what if it's your own call that won't go through, at no fault of your own. Apple may have that covered through a patent application that could keep the accusations to a minimum. If flaky reception at the destination prevents your call from connecting, the proposed idea has your iPhone automatically send a text message indicating that you've at least tried to get in touch.

Google shutters Music Search in China, concedes battle to Baidu

Google has had a rough go of it in China. The company seems to fall farther and farther behind the home-grown search powerhouse Baidu. The latest battle Mountain View has been forced to concede is in the world of music. Google Music Search launched in 2009 as a legal alternative to Baidu's own tool that turned up primarily illicitly shared results. The service never took off, even with the backing of a local partner, and things only got worse when the web giant ceased censoring results and took it wares to Hong Kong.

The extremes of technology customer service: how common sense and empathy create unmatched loyalty

Allow me to explain how two discussions started off in very similar ways, and ended. shall we say, differently. This is me, attempting to muster any sort of pleasantness in my voice at some ungodly hour of the morning on a Google Voice connection from Dubai back to the US: "Hey. I'm having to cut a trip short due to an emergency back home. I actually purchased a trip protection plan when I checked out online - would it be possible to provide a refund for this flight now that I need to cancel it?" From here, I was told that this was too vague.

There's been some trepidation among Apple device users over the upgrade to iOS 6 given that it takes away some components while adding others. You wouldn't guess it from the initial upgrade rate, however. Both ChartBoost and Chitika have determined that about 15 percent of iOS data traffic was already coming from Apple's latest release within its first 24 hours of availability — not bad, considering that it took Android 4.0 roughly eight months to reach a similar ratio and iOS 5 about five days to hit 20 percent.

China's Oppo Mobile CEO Chen Mingyong has just declared 720p obsolete, however. Chen claims his company's upcoming Oppo ”Find 5″ smartphone will sport a 5-inch display running at 1080p resolution, effectively making it a phablet with 441 pixels per inch (ppi). That's sharper than the iPhone 5‘s 326 PPI and the Nokia (NOK) Lumia 920′s 331 PPI. Even with such a large 1080p display, Oppo remains confident it can deliver the quad-core Find 5 in a design that is only 6.65mm thick.

According to Matthias Muller, Porsche brand chief, the cut in spending may delay a project or two, though there's no indication as to which exercises are going to get the back-burner treatment. In addition, Porsche will also cut back production slightly in 2013 to more accurately reflect sales estimates.

LG Chem develops very flexible cable batteries, may leave mobile devices tied up in knots

The world is no stranger to flexible batteries, but they've almost always had to be made in thin sheets — that doesn't amount to a long running time if you're powering anything more than a watch. LG Chem has developed a flexible lithium-ion battery that's not just better-suited to our bigger gadgets but could out-do previous bendable energy packs. Researchers found that coating copper wires with nickel-tin and coiling them briefly around a rod results in a hollow anode that behaves like a very strong spring; mating that anode with a lithium-ion cell leads to a battery that works even when it's twisted up in knots.
