CLASH is an adorable, cloth-climbing roach-bot (video)

Generally the words "roach" and "adorable" don't get thrown together. But, one look at the video after the break and you'll understand. This six-legged successor to UC Berkeley's DASH scampers not just horizontally, but vertically - so long as the material it's climbing is cloth. All motion is handled by the bot's front four legs, while the rear two provide stabilization. The CLASH is able to adhere to cloth because its feet have small claws that allow it to grip the fabric, while its appendages scurry about at up to 34 strides per second.

Ice Cream Sandwich screenshots leaked

Normally, leaks concerning upcoming devices or perhaps the user interface of an operating system or program tend to be a blur, but hopefully with better camera sensors in devices these days (the iPhone 4S comes into mind), such occurrences will get rarer and rarer. We do hope to see screenshots that are similar in quality to the Ice Cream Sandwich shots you see above – it does seem as though plenty of hard work has gone into Ice Cream Sandwich, which is the operating system that intends to bridge the gap between Android 2.3 Gingerbread that is smartphone-specific, and Android 3.x Honeycomb that caters to tablets.

If you were holding out hope that Tuesday's Apple announcement would be trumped by an exclusive iPhone 5 on Sprint, prepare to be disappointed. The company's confirmed that no new handsets would be shown off at its Strategy Event today. Instead, the carrier is focusing on how it intends to bundle all of those separate radios - CDMA, LTE, WiMAX - into a future device line up. Emphasizing the need for an enhanced user experience over 4G technology marketing, the operator stressed a commitment to supporting existing WiMAX subs.

Bethesda Blaming RAGE PC Issues on Drivers

As reported, id Software's new shooter RAGE — and its first new IP since the release of Quake back in 1996 — launched on the PC with mixed reactions, as many gamers immediately faced technical issues that, for some, left the highly-anticipated shooter nearly unplayable. The biggest complaints described intense screen-tearing, poor texture loading and numerous glitches. But as Kotaku demonstrates, not every PC gamer is experiencing problems, and John Carmack even jumped on Twitter telling everyone to update to the latest drivers.

Dolly the sheep was the first successful clone that made it to the news quite a while back, but that doesn't mean fascination with the cloning process has ended. No sir, in the background, work is still being done, perhaps with the vision of coming up with a Jango Fett human blueprint that might result in an army of clones. I don't think that day will come so soon though, although scientists from the New York, cell foundation Laboratory managed to clone human cells using the Dolly technique. This scientific progress half a year down the road after Dolly would point towards the possibility of human cloning.

Fed closes investigation into GM SUV fuel sensors

Owners of 2005-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier and Saab 9-7X SUV models with faulty gas gauges now have some recourse. According to a report in The Detroit News, General Motors will cover half the repair costs for select vehicles with malfunctioning fuel level sensors. According to a GM spokesman, that should mean paying less than $200 for the fix, provided the SUV in question has less than 120,000 miles on the clock. GM's offer stems from a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that was launched in April, after GM and NHTSA received thousands of complaints of gauge failure.

Greyhaven7 took the liberty to slightly reduce what he saw as an exaggerated curve to the device’s screen, and we tend to agree with his artistic license.

What's Inside: The iPhone 4S Camera

What's Inside: The iPhone 4S Camera

One of the biggest improvements to the iPhone 4S looks to be the camera. Apple may have added three more megapixels to the iPhone's camera, but that's just about the least interesting, and certainly the least important part of the 4S camera upgrade. The big news is threefold. Lens, sensor tech and processing hardware.

Lens

The iPhone's lens now has a maximum aperture of Æ'2.4, which not only lets in more light but also allows for a greater separation between subject and background. This shallower field of focus won't rival an SLR because depth-of-field is also a function of sensor size.

First, we have the Droid Bionic, Motorola's latest and greatest 4G smartphone offering. There's also the Samsung Galaxy S II, the much-anticipated sequel to the popular Galaxy line.

With one round still to go, Martin Tomczyk holds such an unassailable lead in the standings as to be crowned champion a race early.
