Keep Your Laptop Safe with TechSafe

Keep Your Laptop Safe with TechSafe

If you use your laptop in public a lot, you'd probably benefit from having a means to secure it against theft.  Griffin offers the universal TechSafe Cable Lock System that uses the laptop's hinge as the attachment point, so it will work equally well with all laptops.  You slide the patented hardened steel LockBlade through the hinge – which Griffin says is the strongest part of the laptop, then you attach the TechSafe Cable Lock to the LockBlade and a table leg.  If there's not an easy way to attach the cable to a piece of furniture, you can use the optional Anchor Clamp.

Next iPhone coming to US on September 5th?

Is the iPhone arriving in September 5th. According to the latest rumors published by iPhoneItalia, it received news from a “very reliable source” who claims that the next iPhone will be launched on Swisscom's network in October 5th. Now that's not the whole story. Apparently the October 5th date is the “rest of the world” date: one month after the US release date which is said to be September 5th. The source of this news? A senior executive at Swisscom (a Swedish carrier).

It's hard to separate truth from fiction here, but if it's true, this is the first time we have a definite date for the next iPhone's release.

AndyPad tech specs confirmed, “Pro” model to cost £179

AndyPad has just got a little more REAL, thanks to the maker finally nailing down the full tech spec of both hardware versions of its forthcoming 7″ Android 2.3 tablet. There's nothing new that hasn't already been well foreshadowed by the company and the many leaks, but it's still good to have a proper list. This is it:.
AndyPad also says the Pro model features “SensaTouch” screen technology, which we've just tried Googling with no luck.

Samsung to unveil a mini Galaxy Tab soon?

Samsung's Galaxy Tab line of tablets is already a success. With 7-, 10.1- and 8.9-inch iterations, the company has all its bases covered and caters to those looking for larger and smaller tablets, as well as somewhere in between. However, it seems seven inches is not small enough for Samsung, as the company is rumored to be launching a 5-inch Galaxy at IFA in September. Yahoo! News Korea reports that Samsung will show off a 5.3-inch tablet at IFA 2011 in Berlin this September. Codenamed ‘Galaxy Q,' the device is said to represent a ‘stepping stone' between the smartphone and the tablet.

Nokia N9 lands at FCC, bares all for the camera

You must have seen enough pictures of the N9Â's beautiful exterior but now thanks to the FCC you can get a peek inside that unibody shell as well. The Federal Trade Commission skillfully took apart the handset on one of their routine tests and took plenty of photographs of the internals. You will notice the pop-out SIM tray on the top of the device that thankfully does not require the assistance of a pointed tool to be taken out because of a lever mechanism. The non-user-replaceable 1450mAh Li-Ion battery uses a cable to connect to the phone, unlike the N8, which used a standard Nokia battery and was hence, to some extent, user-replaceable.

Motorola Droid Bionic viral campaign underway?

Motorola Droid Bionic viral campaign underway?

Viral campaigns aren't new, if anything they've been quite popular of recent, but like most advertising campaigns, it's hard to pull of perfectly. There needs to be the right element of mystery and tinge of annoyance when it comes to these sorts of things - most of them just end up being annoying or something I don't care about. But recently there've been a couple of viral campaigns that have got me interested. First up it's none other than the TabCo viral marketing campaign that popped up a couple of weeks ago.

Facebook comments can now display rich content

One thing great about Facebook is the way it constantly innovates and updates itself. While not everybody may agree with the new features it implements and forces its users to use, Facebook has come a long way since its inception about 7 years ago. From photo tagging, facial recognition, the “Like” button, and native video calling, the service is really a one-stop for all your social internet needs. Yesterday Facebook announced a new feature that will be rolled out globally: comments now support rich content.

The new MacBook Airs' i5 processor and backlit keyboard make it a speedy, slick machine. If you bought a MacBook Pro last year, it just got outflanked by its slimmer, smaller cousin, the MacBook Air. According to benchmark tests, the 2011 MacBook Air outperforms every 2010 MacBook Pro.

Laptop magazine reports that the 13-inch Air had a performance boost of 100 percent over last year's Air, scoring 5,860 on the Geekbench test. It boots in 17 seconds, and has a 6.25-hour battery life. The 11-inch Air jumped 149 percent, for a Geekbench score of 5,040, compared to 2,024 for last year's model.

Does anyone remember playing the RTS game Battle Realms, created by Liquid Entertainment some ten years ago. If you do, it seems that the company will be taking the Battle Realms game and bringing it to iOS and Android devices sometime in 2012. The bad news is that it will not be the same RTS game that we remember, but rather a collectible card game version of it instead.

With cloud services that are starting to pop up everywhere, it's really no surprise to see that Taiwanese hardware vendor, Acer, has decided to hop aboard the bandwagon as well. When it comes to celebrities endorsing audio products, or perhaps lending their name to said audio products, it's really not that uncommon. Take a look at Dr. Dre who lent his name to Monster to create the Beats By Dre headphones, or even Lady Gaga who has her own set of headphones, and let's not forget Earth, Wind & Fire who also released their own set of headphones. So when Ludacris announced his own set of headphones called SOUL back at CES earlier this year, we can't say we weren't surprised.

Music body wants to introduce a traffic light system to identify illegal websites on search engines

If you're resourceful enough and you don't like the idea of downloading torrents, chances are you should be able to search your way directly to an MP3 file of the song that you are looking for. However there are some people out there who may not know that downloading MP3 files are illegal, because whoever taught them to probably just told them that this was a way to get free music. Ignorance, however, is not an excuse in the eyes of the law, which is why a music body, the Performing Rights Society (PRS) for Music wants search engines to show which sites offer content illegally.

Aluminum-Celmet May Boost EV Ranges 200%

One of the biggest concerns of prospective electric vehicle owners is a fear of limited driving ranges. Although modern electric vehicles have no problems making daily local trips, some owners may decide to pass on purchasing an EV knowing that it can only go so far before needing another charge. Luckily for prospective owners, a brand new metal on the way could lead to a huge increase in EV capabilities. Manufacturer of optical fiber cable and electric wire, Sumitomo Electric Industries (SEI) has recently developed an aluminum that could lead to a 150-300% increase in electric vehicle battery capacity.

TabCo Tablet launch might have Nokia connection

Heard of the TabCo name before. Many people speculate that this is a viral marketing stunt from ailing Finnish mobile phone manufacturer Nokia, and they might be right. While the "WeAreMaemo" account has been deleted from Twitter, a different account name that does bear plenty of similarities has appeared – being referred to as "WeAreTabCo" now. A conversation over on Twitter by WeAreTabCo has fueled further speculation that a new tablet launch that is happening next month might actually belong to Nokia, but until something far more concrete arises, we will just have to adopt a wait and see attitude.

Sometimes when you're out running errands, inspiration and even a melody for a song might hit you out of nowhere. It never ceases to amaze us how fast robot technology is progressing, and also how much robots can accomplish and are able to do for us. But a robot band that can play a perfect rendition of Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People". Do we really want to rob ourselves of the joy of performing and jamming as a band. Well in some cases, especially with such an excellent cover and precise timing, we find it hard to say no.
Named End of Life, or EOL for short, it seems like a pretty fitting name considering at the rate we're progressing with robot technology, it's only a matter of time before they take over the world as we know it.
