Verizon Close To Getting Nexus 7 LTE Certified

Verizon Close To Getting Nexus 7 LTE Certified

It was not too long ago when we did mention how the Nexus 7 LTE was more than ready to work on Verizon's network, but somehow or rather, the thing is not yet available there simply because it has yet to receive the proper certification. Well, here we are now with Verizon Wireless sharing a little bit more on that particular situation, by claiming that the Nexus 7 has already entered its certification process sometime last month, but did not manage to complete the entire slew of relevant testing required for certification.

'Wii Sports Club' Brings Classic Wii Sports Games To The Wii U

One of the most popular titles for the Nintendo Wii has got to be its Wii Sports titles as they allowed players to make full use of the system as they wave around their Wii remote to play a number of sports-related mini-games. Unfortunately, there hasn't been a Wii Sports title for the Wii U console yet, but Nintendo is announcing they're bringing all five Wii Sports activities through the Nintendo eShop.

Nokia's Android Experiment Is Reportedly Still Ongoing

Nokia's Android Experiment Is Reportedly Still Ongoing

The other day according to a report, Nokia had allegedly been testing an Android device prior to Microsoft announcing their acquisition plans. It had been thought at that time that Nokia had since stopped experimenting with Android, but according to a new report, it seems that the experimentation was still going on. In fact it seems that the device had made it to prototype stages and Foxconn had even manufactured about 10,000 units of said device, although we don't think this was to sell but perhaps to distribute internally for testing.

Hands-on with the PlayStation Vita TV, Sony's $100 microconsole

Hands-on with the PlayStation Vita TV, Sony's $100 microconsole

So, what's it like using the Vita TV. It's a lot like using a Vita, except even more comfortable. As expected, Vita's UI is all the easier to navigate using a DualShock 3. Menus are a snap to navigate, and just as quick - not exactly a surprise given that, well, it's a Vita. The Vita is a quick system. Just like we said at the announcement event, Vita TV is a pretty little thing. It's tiny and easily hidden away in a media center; not that you'd need to hide it away, given how sleek it is.

Sadly, UmJammer Lammy (and we expect many other PSOne) games suffer for the bigger TV screen.

Alleged Sony Full-Frame NEX Specs Revealed

Alleged Sony Full-Frame NEX Specs Revealed

So we have been hearing rumors that Sony could be announcing their new full-frame NEX camera in the next month or so, with the company allegedly sending out invites to camera retailers, asking them to attend an event in which something big will be shown off, presumably a full-frame NEX device. However the specifications of the camera remain unknown, with its full-frame being the only feature we know of, but according to the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, they have been tipped off on the alleged specs of the upcoming device. Since this is not official information, it is suggested that you take it with a grain of salt for now.

VW redoes A-ha's 'Take On Me' music video

VW redoes A-ha's 'Take On Me' music video

Volkswagen has been responsible for its fair share of witty, clever commercials. "Tiny Vader" might be the most popular, but somehow, we think this newest spot will find a big audience. VW delivers not so much a cover, but a reimagining, of 1980s Norwegian pop band A-ha's famous music video for "Take On Me.". The original opens with an animated motorcycle race, which is revealed to be part of a comic book. VW's version replaces the motorcycle with a Passat, which strikes us as an oddly sober choice when there are cars like the GTI and Beetle in VW's portfolio. But never mind that – take a look down above for the entire 46-second spot.

Ford announces first non-pursuit-rated police car ever

Ford announced its first non-pursuit-rated Police Interceptor ever, based on the Taurus, which employs the smaller 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine in place of similar pursuit-rated Police Interceptors powered by naturally aspirated 3.5-liter and 3.7-liter V6s and the top-spec 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. Officially called the Special Service Police sedan, the car was commissioned at the request of law-enforcement agencies that desire a more fuel-efficient vehicle for detectives, administrators and campus police, who don't necessarily need pursuit-rated vehicles.

General Motors Target Electric Car With 200-Mile Battery Range

Just what do you think is the future of the automobile. We might not be able to see through a vision of cars that fly, just like how it is depicted in the Jetsons or other science fiction series or movies, but one thing's for sure – the world needs to wean itself off the addiction that is fossil fuel, and start to seriously explore the possibility of turning all cars into hybrids, or in a more pure format, being electric powered.

Humorous docu-vid makes strong case against 'artificially' low speed limits

Humorous docu-vid makes strong case against 'artificially' low speed limits

Road safety is not to be taken lightly. Each year, thousands die on American roads, with driver error as a leading cause. Throughout motorized history, one of the prime ways used to curb deaths has been through speed limits. But are today's speed limits too low. We see both sides of the argument, even though we yearn to live in a world where we can go as fast we want (we hear that place is called "Germany"). More importantly, are speed limits set intentionally low so that – *gasp* – municipalities can make money off of ticket revenue?

This video, by Six 7 Films, doesn't advocate for a world without speed limits.

VW readying long-wheelbase Up!

VW readying long-wheelbase Up!

If you've noticed the trend in the automotive industry wherein cars seem to keep getting bigger, well you're not alone. For the most part. While some vehicles are getting bigger, most automakers engage in a vicious cycle wherein new models are developed to slot into the same segment left by the newly enlarged vehicle. Take, for example, the Volkswagen Up! supermini currently offered overseas in three- and five-door bodystyles. It may be the size of an earlier Polo, but it's smaller than the current one.

HP Blasts Rumors That It Is Making A Smartphone

HP Blasts Rumors That It Is Making A Smartphone

It was first rumored a few days ago that HP was going to make an entry into the smartphone market once again. The company has kept itself out ever since its webOS powered devices weren't able to gain any traction. HP was rumored to be making a Windows Phone powered smartphone, but now the company has issued a firm denial. A PR representative for HP said that the story is “fabrication and is not related to anything HP has in the works,” “someone is making stuff up,” the representative says.

Facebook And Twitter Hits A Wall Again In Iran

Facebook And Twitter Hits A Wall Again In Iran

It was rather recent that we reported a slight easing of Iran's government, as it seemed that both Facebook and Twitter services were made available in that part of the world, all without having to go through proxy sites and VPNs (Virtual Private Networks). This has led to plenty of new and old media alike to speculate whether this move on the quiet could usher in a new era of a more open Internet policy in Iran, especially after one takes into consideration the election of the new moderate President Hassan Rouhani.

Shipping Times For Several iPhone 5C Models Begin To Slip

Shipping Times For Several iPhone 5C Models Begin To Slip

It is not known right now how many iPhone 5C pre-orders were made in the first day, Apple hasn't revealed any official numbers like it used to do in the past. Some analysts are of the view that the absence of official figures indicates weak demand, but such speculation must always be taken with a grain of salt. On September 13th Apple and its various partners started accepting pre-orders for iPhone 5C. Several models of the new “unapologetically plastic” iPhone have sold out at Apple, which has caused shipping times to slip.
Apple, its retail and carrier partners are going to launch the new iPhones next week.

US auto sales look to hit 16 million in 2014

US auto sales look to hit 16 million in 2014

America's automotive industry continues to boom, with analysts predicting that sales in 2014 will reach over 16 million units while marking just the second time since World War II that the industry has seen five consecutive years of growth. The estimates, if correct, would represent a 500,000-unit improvement over the current projections for 2013. What's remarkable, though, is how the industry is achieving this growth. Two things set this boom apart from the last time we saw five consecutive years of growth, 1996 to 2000. First, it's the vehicles being sold.

Sony BRAVIA Smart Stick Revealed

Sony BRAVIA Smart Stick Revealed

The Sony BRAVIA Smart Stick, otherwise known as the Sony NSZ-GU1 Google TV in FCC filings of yore, has been revealed partially. It does look, however, that the rumors are true – Sony was working on a Google Chromecast rival, and the Sony BRAVIA Smart Stick looks set to be the device in question. While it was not mentioned in the FCC filing that the BRAVIA Smart Stick will arrive with certain features that make it look as though it will styled after Chromecast, we do know for sure that it will be an MHL dongle which is capable of handling its own BRAVIA apps in addition to Google TV, of course.
