Matsunichi's MarquisPad MP977 tablet tempts us with $249, dual-core Android 4.0

You might remember Le Pan's tablets from CES this year, of which only one was truly ready at the time. The company is now ready to hit the US in earnest, but you'll have to forget the company name along with the earlier designs: it's now Matsunichi, and it's planning to kick off its US-ready makeover through the MarquisPad MP977. The tablet shares the 9.7-inch, 1024 x 768 display of the Le Pan II, but it's now running a slightly speedier dual-core, 1.2GHz TI chip (likely the same OMAP 4430 as in the Droid Xyboard), ships with Android 4.0 out of the gate and comes in a sleeker - not to mention browner - shell.

What is the best smartphone in the world. Of course, we wouldn't answer that question on your behalf. After all, you hold the answer to that question. We have different preferences, and we really respect that. But when you will ask that question to Wolfram Alpha, the popular answer engine that answers factual queries directly by computing the answer from structured data, it will give you the Nokia Lumia 900 4G as an answer. But no, Wolfram Alpha isn't biased about Windows Phone.

Audi e-bike Wörthersee lets you pop wheelies eco-style, plays nice with your smartphone

We're no stranger to e-bikes here, but most of the examples we've seen so far have very much been meant for A-to-B rides. Audi's aiming to fix that with its e-bike Wörthersee prototype. The carbon fiber transport not only has a strong 2.3kW motor - the most powerful ever in a bike, so says Audi - but can use that power for tricks. You can flick the Wörthersee into a wheelie mode and either shift your weight around or leave it fully automatic, depending on the fierceness of your stunt skills.

Treasury has no plans to sell remaining GM stock quite yet

General Motors stock has been languishing for months, failing to climb past $30 per share since July of last year. Trading at around $22 per share today, the optimism that surrounded the company's emergence from bankruptcy and initial public offering in November 2010 has all but vanished. So it's no wonder that the United States Treasury has decided to sit on its GM shares, with no plans to sell of its remaining 26 percent stake in the automaker. According to The Detroit News, the Treasury believes that GM is underpriced given the changes that have happened at the company.

After uncovering a YouTube video on ASUS's channel claiming that the soon-to-be-released ASUS Padfone's battery was capable of up to 102 hours of use when in laptop mode, the folks at Engadget decided the numbers were a bit too good to take at face value. They went straight to source and got the slightly more realistic answers they were seeking. Turns out the original figure was based on 2G talk time. When it comes to 3G service and browsing the web, the hours add up to significantly less, but remain impressive.

Lenovo ThinkPad USB 3.0 dock lends its ports to your deprived laptop via DisplayLink, available May 15th for $180

We've all been there. When you run into a scenario where your kit is one USB port short of an ideal workflow. Fret not, the ThinkPad USB 3.0 dock from Lenovo will provide help with said issue when it arrives later this month. Powered by DisplayLink's DL-3900 graphics chip, the peripheral adds five of the aforementioned USB ports, dual DVI jacks for implementing multiple displays and both gigabit Ethernet and audio connections. Not too shabby for an expansion set that connects to your chosen workhorse over a single USB 3.0 cable.

What can you even say to defend a financial decision like this one. According to a report by Detroit's WXYZ television news team, the City of Detroit has been leasing a 2004 Dodge Intrepid since September 2003, over six years after the original two-year-lease expired. Since the City did not return the car, it has continued to make the $608 per month lease payments, even as it racked up miles well beyond the 40,000 in the original agreement, for which it now must pay 15 cents per mile. According to the report, the City has spent over $65,000 for the car, which it doesn't even own.
But that's not all.

Stealth Tablet envelope will help camouflage your tablet

While bringing our tablets with us on the go is becoming a more common sight, it also means that there are probably more snatch thieves out there waiting to pounce. Unfortunately as much as we'd love to clutch our tablets and smartphones to our chest and hope that no one steals it, it is simply not ideal. This is where the Stealth Tablet Envelope comes in. Pictured above, the Stealth Tablet Envelope is a casing for your tablet that disguises itself as, well, an envelope. Upon first glance, it would appear as a somewhat banged up manila envelope with a faux paper exterior.

Apple releases iOS 5.1.1 update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

Apple releases iOS 5.1.1 update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

Apple released iOS 5.1.1 today for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It is just a minor update that focuses on bug fixing rather than adding any new features. The following is the list of changes brought by the new update.
As you can tell from the screenshot above, the update was also released as an OTA download for devices running iOS 5 and above and weighs in at just 54MB. If you have an iOS device running a version prior to iOS 5, you'd have to connect to iTunes to download the latest update.

If haven't really noticed any of these bugs in the previous version so we can't tell if the update really fixed them or not.

Kyocera is looking to regain a foothold in the US smartphone market, and curiously enough, it's doing so by catering to niche audiences. First we saw the Hydro, a waterproof handset, and alongside it is the Rise, which features a sliding QWERTY keyboard. Both phones are built for CDMA networks, although Kyocera has yet to announce carrier availability for either. Spec-wise, the Rise is very similar to the Hydro, and this extends to the OS.
