It's been almost two years since we first got a peek at the specs on RED's EPIC-X, and the 5K-shooting, roughly $30,000 rig is just now shipping out to customers. That's not terribly shocking considering the company's notoriously long development cycles and, if you ordered one, you should be too excited about getting a new toy to worry about how long it took to build.

Team-Touchdroid dual boots Android on TouchPad - touchscreen not included

The race to get Android working on the now budget-friendly HP TouchPad is on. We've already heard rumors of the little green robot coming pre-installed on the ill-fated slate and we've seen the first CM7 boot, but no one's gone all the way quite yet. While progress is slow, a team of dedicated TouchPad hackers, calling itself Team-Touchdroid, is now showing off a dual-boot configuration with Android 2.3.5. As with CM7, the touchscreen still doesn't work, but the demo video is quite dramatic - that is until the credits stop rolling.

webOS global business unit split outlined in leaked HP documents

It's been just over two weeks since HP announced plans to discontinue production of its webOS devices, and speculation over the future of the platform is still going strong. Just this week, Samsung CEO Choi Gee Sung put to rest rumors of a webOS deal, and now two leaked missives from inside HP show plans to split the webOS global business unit in two. According to letters apparently from Todd Bradley and Shane Robison, webOS software will find a new home in the outfit's Office of Strategy and Technology, while the hardware division will remain with the Personal Systems Group. One of these letters from Tom Bradley explains the split:.

Doom may run on just about everything these days, but one place it hasn't been very accessible during the past 17 years - regardless of the device - is in Germany. That finally changed this week, however, with both Doom and Doom 2 receiving a USK-16 rating that allows them to be made available wherever video games are sold. Both games had previously been "indexed" by the country's Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons, which has effectively confined them to the underground market since their debut.

LG Electronics (LG) will be taking the wraps off its new high-end monitors - the ultra-slim and vivid E91 and D237IPS, at IFA 2011 in Berlin, Germany. The E91 features a 7.2mm depth and a bezel measuring just 4.35mm, which provides a near borderless appearance. The E91's hanger-type hinge design makes it easy for users to adjust the monitor to their preferred viewing angle.

HTC Runnymede 2 to offer Beats Audio, 4.7-inch display

Earlier this month, HTC purchased a controlling stake in Beats Audio and a new phone called the Runnymede 2 could join the HTC Vigor as one of the first devices to offer Beats technology. According to a leaked spec sheet, the Runnymede 2 is equipped with a huge 4.7-inch WVGA Super LCD screen, a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 processor, 16GB or 32GB of storage and “SRS surround sound with acoustic performance tuned by Beats.” It is also equipped with an 8-megapixel camera capable of recording 720p HD video, a 1.3-megapixel camera for video chats, Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and support for 14.4Mbps HSDPA networks.

Mecum is set to auction off the very last Mitsubishi Eclipse ever produced at its Normal, Illinois plant. The Eclipse marks the end of 22 years of continuous production with Kalapana Black paint, 18-inch wheels and SE side graphics. Dish reportedly launching Blockbuster movie streaming service next month

Dish Network already has its DishOnline streaming service for its own paying customers, but it looks like it's now set to take direct aim at Netflix with a standalone subscription service that will be open to everyone. According to Bloomberg, that will operate under the company's recently acquired Blockbuster brand and, in what's surely a bitter pill for Netflix to swallow, it's said to include titles from Starz (which also handles movies from Disney and Sony). As you'll recall from yesterday, it announced that it will be pulling all of its titles from Netflix in February of next year after it failed to reach an agreement with the company.

HTC Watch will soon be coming to HTC's Mango powered phones.  HTC's video on demand service will allow users to check out the latest movie trailers for free and rent or buy premium movies and TV shows.  The app looks like most other WP apps, and the service should work exactly the same as it does on HTC's Android powered devices.  Since there no Mango powered phones from HTC on the market, we'll just have to wait a bit longer to see if HTC Watch offers anything new or unique.  Windows Phone users already have a few other options to rent or buy movies or TV shows, including Microsoft's official Zune store (which is not available in all mar

Dryers are a great way to get your clothes dried in a relatively short amount of time. However the costs of running a dryer constantly will definitely result in electricity bills that may give you a heart attack, which is why Miele has unveiled what they're calling the "world's first" dryer to use the heat of the sun to dry your clothes. If that sounded a bit weird, they aren't talking about the heat of the sun in the literal sense where you actually hang your clothes out in the backyard for it to dry, but instead it will utilize the heat gathered by rooftop solar-thermal collectors.

Rumor has it that Intel will be temporarily discontinuing development on MeeGo's development - which coming after Nokia basically put MeeGo in the background as a platform for "long-term market exploration", may well mean the end of the platform. Intel is, of course, denying such rumors, saying that they are still committed to the Linux-based OS.
MeeGo had high ambitions to power anything from smartphones through car infotainment systems to netbooks.

If you're not a fan of Apple's line of MP3 players, you will be pleased to find out that Creative has just announced their ZEN X-Fi3 media player that based on its dimensions alone could give the iPod Nano a run for its money. Measuring in at 65 x 45.5 x 12.5mm, the ZEN X-Fi3 media player features a 2" screen and comes in either 8GB or 16GB storage capacities. The good news is that it also features a microSD card slot that will support an additional 32GB.

Samsung on Thursday unveiled two new GALAXY-branded devices at the IFA trade show in Germany, the Samsung GALAXY Note smartphone and the Samsung GALAXY Tab 7.7 tablet. The former blurs the line between smartphone and tablet - and usable and comical - featuring a massive 5.3-inch 1280 x 800-pixel Super AMOLED display that will likely make this device unpocketable for most consumers. The phone also curiously employs a stylus for note taking and drawing, though finger input is supported as well.

Inside, you can choose between a second generation Core i3, i5 or i7, add up to 1TB storage AND a 64GB SSD. The memory maxes out at 4GB (6GB would have been a dream…) but you've got an internal drive and speakers that look decent. Interestingly, Lenovo estimates the battery life to 7hrs (in standard depletion mode, with display on), which is not bad at all for this type of computer. It is probably best to wait for the independent tests, however.I'm anxious to see what the display and the keyboards feel like. I was very impressed by the Lenovo X1 keyboard, but I was a bit disappointed by its display.

According to user TrevE from InfectedROM, a recent Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update from HTC added a little something special to the source code of Carrier IQ (CIQ), an Android component. CIQ is not new; it is part of Android and used on most devices to send data back to carriers about your smartphone.

Toshiba Reveals Svelte Notebook, Skinny Tablet

Toshiba's AT200 tablet is only 7.7 mm thick. Image: Toshiba. Today Toshiba revealed two new products that verge on the anorexic: A super skinny Android Honeycomb tablet, and a svelte notebook companion.
In case you don't believe me, Toshiba's tablet, the AT200, measures in at only 7.7 mm thick. For comparison, the iPad 2 is 8.8 mm thick. The AT200 features a 10.1-inch display with 1280 x 800 resolution. Inside, it's got a dual-core TI OMAP 4430 processor that clocks in at 1.2GHz, with 1GB of RAM.

Over a dozen new tablets have been unveiled so far this year, from the Motorola Xoom to the funky Fusion Garage Grid 10.

With so many tablets available in the market, it doesn't hurt always have options and alternatives, especially if you don't feel like dropping a lot of money on the highest-end tablet in the market. While we can't speak for the price of this new tablet, in the past Velocity Micro has put out tablets that are in the budget-affordable range, and we don't see why their upcoming offering will be any different. Call it a Caravan, call it a Voyager, call it whatever you want – just don't call it a Dodge. Because while it may look exactly like a Dodge, it's actually a Ram. And as the suits in Auburn Hills will point out, the Ram truck brand is no longer under Dodge's purview. Samsung to Unveil Three Bada-Powered Smartphones

As Samsung is about to unveil the U.S. versions of the Galaxy S II smartphone, the company will also introduce three new handsets that are all powered by Samsung's Bada 2.0 OS. The Samsung Wave 3 is considered as the most premium among the three, with its respectable specs including a new cross-platform messaging service similar to BlackBerry Messenger (called Social Hub) and some NFC capability. It features a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 1.4GHz processor, a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, VGA front camera for video chat, Music Hub, and ChatOn.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Wave M is marketed as a mid-range smartphone.

Sony's head-mounted 3D visor is real, HMZ-T1 arrives in Japan November 11th

Remember that crazy wearable 3D display concept Sony was showing off at CES 2011. Turns out the company is actually going to make it, and the HMZ-T1 is scheduled to be released in Japan on November 11th. While the design has changed slightly since we first laid our eyes, and heads, on it, the specs appear to be the same, with two 1280x720 0.7-inch OLED panels mounted in front of each eye giving the wearer an experience similar to viewing a 750-inch screen from 20m away, as well as 5.1 surround sound from headphones integrated into the Head Mounted Display (HMD).
