2012 Buick LaCrosse recalled over improperly calibrated ESC

The very first 2012 Buick LaCrosse models began rolling off the line in June, but a new recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will have these cars going right back to the dealerships from which they came. NHTSA states that 4,077 LaCrosse sedans are affected by this recall, covering vehicles built between June 9 and July 2 of this year. NHTSA states that these 2012 LaCrosse models "fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 126," concerning electronic stability control systems.

In the game Shaper, players must arrange the cubes into the on-screen configuration before time runs out. LEGOs and Lincoln Logs are for Luddites. Sifteo cubes are the new building blocks.
Each cube has a 128-pixel color LCD screen, wireless connectivity, a 32-bit ARM microprocessor, and an accelerometer that responds to tilting and stacking. BMW planning M5 with diesel, all-wheel drive?

It wasn't that long ago that a BMW with all-wheel drive – or really, anything other than rear-wheel drive – would have seemed downright apocryphal. But these days the Bavarian automaker offers traction at all four corners on a growing variety of vehicles. including the X5 M and X6 M crossovers. But an M5. If you shudder at the thought, you may want to stop reading here, because word on the street is that BMW is not only planning to place an extra driveshaft in the M5, but also give it – gasp! – a diesel.
The rumors are sparked by an apparently official document that includes a model designated M550dX.

Some mad scientists over on UCLA's engineering team have effectively developed a new type of LCD using photovaltaic polarizers that recycle energy from sunlight or a device's own backlight to charge itself. Pretty epic, right. If you're thinking what I'm thinking, this could be exactly what Android ordered. Youssry Boutros, program director for the Intel Labs Academic Research Office, which supported the research explains:

“The polarizing organic photovoltaic cell demonstrated by Professor Yang's research group can potentially harvest 75 percent of the wasted photons from LCD backlight and turn them back into electricity.

In a note to investors on Tuesday, BTIG Research analyst Walter Piecyk raised his rating on Sprint stock from Sell to Neutral without indicating a new price target. Piecyk had previously set his price target at $3.13, but noted that the stock now trades under five times BTIG's 2012 earnings estimate, which is below consensus. The firm notes that it is not moving to a Buy rating because Sprint's stock may fall further still, due to uncertain earnings, high debt leverage, lack of free cash flow and a worrisome 4G strategy.

Apple made Lion, its eighth major OS X release, available to Mac computer users on July 20th, and the Cupertino-based tech giant noted in the first sentence of its press release that Lion includes “more than 250 new features.” Unfortunately for a seemingly large group of users - this editor included - the only new features that really mattered were the numerous annoyances that came to light after just a few minutes of usage. The new autocorrect, the annoying new event behavior in iCal, the lack of key repeat, the bizarre defaults set throughout the OS… we could go on for quite a while.

i2R's e-paper is a new kind of paper that might just help prevent even more trees from being felled just because we love printing far more documentation than is actually required, in addition to a gazillion other excuses. Well, this is not the kind of paper that we think it is according to its Taiwan-based developers, but rather, the e-paper will rely on a thermal printer that is not too different from the ones found in fax machines. Whenever you no longer need whatever is written on the paper, just flip the switch on and all content on the paper will be erased – letting you do so for up to 260 times.
