Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Firmware 5.3.3 released

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Firmware 5.3.3 released

Amazon today released a new firmware for their Kindle Paperwhite.  Firmware 5.3.3 can either be downloaded and manually installed or you can wait for it to come over the air if you have your Wi-fi enabled on your Paperwhite.  There's actually no change log on the web and it's a full OS update (rather than an upgrade or incremental) so be prepared to download around 164MB. It's coming down as I type and if there are any issues with it I'll report back.

2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Is Most Aerodynamic Production Vehicle

Looks can be deceiving, and when you take a glance at the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class, it might not seem like it at first, but when tested, it will clearly take the lead by being the world's most aerodynamic production car, period. This fierce looking compact sedan will have a drag coefficient of 0.23, making it the world's most aerodynamic series production car as it hits the US later this September. If you were to compare it with the Toyota Prius, that hybrid has a 0.25 rating, while the 2013 Nissan Leaf electric vehicle has a 0.28 drag coefficient, with the Tesla Model S coming closest at 0.24.

Apple Needs To Overhaul Its Supply Chain, Says Ex-Apple CEO John Sculley

American businessman and former Apple CEO, John Sculley, has something to say about Apple's current situation. In an interview with Bloomberg, Sculley said that Apple has to overhaul its supply chain to meet the demand for cheaper smartphones in new markets. "Apple needs to adapt to a very different world,” he said. “As we go from $500 smartphones to even as low, for some companies, as $100 for a smartphone, you've got to dramatically rethink the supply chain and how you can make these products and do it profitably.”.

15,000 Apps Submitted During RIM's Blackberry 10 App Port-A-Thon

15,000 Apps Submitted During RIM's Blackberry 10 App Port-A-Thon

Remember last year we reported that RIM would be holding a Blackberry 10 app port-a-thon over the weekend. Well that weekend has since come and gone, but in the meantime it looks like the event might have been a success as it seems that a whopping 15,000 Blackberry 10 apps were submitted in the process. Granted there is a chance that not all of them will be making it into the store, but it also means that RIM will have a wide selection of apps to choose from to load up into their stores once Blackberry 10 has gone live.
