Uniquely Android: Puzzle Alarm Clock

Uniquely Android: Puzzle Alarm Clock

Uniquely Android is a series we started that shines the spotlight on those apps that take advantage of the unique capabilities of the platform and provide an experience that you wouldn't find in most other phones. Previously, we have featured Plug In Launcher, AirDroid, Shush, Llama, Swiftkey 3, SwipePad, Widgetsoid2.x, Unified Remote, AirCalc and WiFi Keyboard. What's so unique about Puzzle Alarm Clock.
Right at the start, I have to request you to not judge Puzzle Alarm Clock by its name. It isn't yet another of those “solve a math problem to switch off alarm apps”.

BMW X4 hatches its fastback shape in Shanghai

BMW X4 hatches its fastback shape in Shanghai

The day has finally come for BMW to pull the covers off its X4 Concept at the Shanghai Motor Show. The machine brings few surprises – we've already seen an official image gallery from the German automaker, so its exterior shape was well known – but at least now we get to see it with our own eyes, and with the lenses of our very own cameras. You can clearly see the fastback roofline in our image gallery above, along with the jacked-up stance that allows BMW to call this machine a Sports Activity Vehicle, which basically means "Crossover" to our friends in Munich.

Range-topping 800-hp Lamborghini Aventador SV hits the 'Ring

A couple of years ago, rumors were circulating about a possible high(er)-performance version of the Lamborghini Aventador, and our spy photographers have just captured what appears to be a prototype of this new supercar testing at the Nürburgring. Supposedly called the Aventador SV (for Super Veloce), this even-more-hardcore version of Lamborghini's range-topper could boast as much as 800 horsepower. Yowza. As for the car you see here, our spies point out new center-lock wheels wrapped in ultra-thin high-performance tires that hide revised brake calipers mounted in a different position than on the normal Aventador.

HTC One 64GB Developer Edition and 32GB SIM Unlocked versions are facing delays

Receiving news like this is never fun, but for some that recently pre-ordered the HTC One Developer Edition (64GB) and SIM Unlocked versions, emails were being sent out today notifying them that their devices have officially been delayed. Some of these units were scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, but now these and others have now been pushed back to sometime “before the end of April.” It's unclear if this delay is only affecting those that recently pre-ordered, or all pre-orders. Originally, I ordered my Developer Version on day 1 but had to cancel and re-order a few days ago in order to nab the free case promotion.

Honda recalling 204k CR-V, Odyssey, Acura RDX models over rollaway risk

Honda has announced a recall over a possible rollaway risk that affects 204,169 crossover and minivan models. The specific vehicles in question are the 2012-13 Honda CR-V and Odyssey, as well as the 2013 Acura RDX. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "the brake-shift interlock blocking mechanism may become slow and allow the gear selector to be moved from the Park position without pressing the brake pedal." In other words, these vehicles could unintentionally roll away.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Rumors Suspected To Be The Work Of HTC's PR Team, According To Eldar Murtazin

The other day we reported on a rumor that with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the phablet could be seeing a major revamp and could (finally) be turning to more premium materials, such as the use of metal. While that did sound rather promising, famed blogger Eldar Murtazin who also seems to be able to get inside info on phones before the rest of the world, has tweeted that this might not be the case and that it could be the work of HTC's PR team.

YouTube Achieves Victory Over Viacom Case

YouTube Achieves Victory Over Viacom Case

It is undeniable that YouTube trends have changed over the past few years, but it is a good thing that the company's legal standing has remained. A federal judge has ruled that the DMCA still offers protection for the streaming site from Viacom's copyright claims, where this particular ruling would respond to Viacom's appeal of a 2010 case, where said case stated that YouTube is not to be held responsible for copyright infringing content uploaded by its users. Viacom has since sought to revise that particular ruling, insisting that YouTube was “willfully blind” towards such activities.

Subaru WRX STI prototype spied in motion

Subaru WRX STI prototype spied in motion

Earlier this week, we got all hot and bothered over a set of spy photos showing the next-generation Subaru WRX STI testing at the Nürburgring. And while pretty still shots of a camouflaged car are always nice to look at, stirring up lots of speculation, having video is even better. Good thing, then, that our trusty spies were on hand to get some rolling footage of that STI as it lapped the infamous German track. Now, as a good majority of the comments on our previous post will point out, it looks like Subaru has dumbed down the design of that decidedly hot WRX Concept from New York for the road-going car.

Pantech Vega Iron announced, features 5-inch 'bezel-less' display

Pantech has just outed their latest Android smartphone, the Vega Iron. The new phone is jumping on board the zero-bezel bandwagon, touting a nearly edge-to-edge 5-inch display. It's not quite full-frontal glass, as a 2.4mm gap is present on either side of the 720p screen. That's less than a tenth of an inch and equates to one of the world's best screen size to device size ratios, according to Pantech.

Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe concept sketches leaked ahead of Shanghai

A handful of sketches of the Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe concept have leaked onto the web ahead of its official debut at the Shanghai Motor Show this week. The sketches show a small crossover from the German brand that could likely rival the Mercedes-Benz GLA that was also revealed this week. The leakage comes courtesy of German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, and follows in the footsteps of the larger, three-row CrossBlue concept that debuted in Detroit earlier this year.

Pantech Vega Iron Officially Announced

The other day we reported that Pantech would be taking the wraps off the Vega Iron on the 18th of April, and sure enough they did as the handset has been made official. For those who might not have been following the news, here's what you can expect from the handset. Featuring a 5x1080p Full HD display, the Pantech Vega Iron will feature a body made entirely out of metal which we're sure some customers can appreciate. The bezel on the display is also extremely thin, although technically it isn't bezel-less as the bezels measure a pretty impressive 2.4mm on each side.

Asus Xonar U7 USB External Soundcard And Headphone Amplifier

I clearly remember the good old days, when the lack of a soundcard in the computer meant that our ears were just treated to beeps from the PC speaker, which is rather sad. While my friends would listen to the cacodemons and revenants blasting away in Doom 2, the PC speaker failed to enhance the playability of the game on my behalf. Gone are those days, as virtually every computer comes with a soundcard of sorts right out of the box.

Formula Drift kicks off tenth season with capacity crowd in Long Beach

The tenth season of Formula Drift kicked off this past weekend in front of a sell-out crowd in Long Beach, California. Celebrating a decade of smoke-spewing sideways racing is a solid testament to the popularity of the sport that delivers everything racing enthusiasts seek – high-horsepower vehicles running side-by-side with the expected mechanical carnage – in one racing series. This weekend's event, or Round One, was won by Daijiro Yoshihara (Nissan 240SX / Discount Tire), the series champion in 2011.

For couples who don’t share a bank account, summer holiday budgets can be unnecessarily complicated. There are usually hotel, restaurant and miscellaneous bills to be settled, which can lead to awkward verbal wrangling as to who picks up the tab and a string of promises as to who will ‘get the next one’.

If you are one who absolutely loves the racing simulator Gran Turismo, and have followed the game right from the very beginning of the series, then you might be interested to hear that retail site Newegg.com has already made available a pre-order page for Gran Turismo 6. Of course, even more interesting is the fact that just as soon as the listing went live, it was taken down all too soon, but with the Internet being what it is, and folks never too far away from a Prt Sc key on the keyboard, you can be sure that there are screenshots shared online as "proof" that Newegg actually placed such a pre-order page.

"Oh yeah, Toyota still makes the Tacoma." Admit it, that's what you just said to yourself. It's a perfectly natural reaction, but the Tacoma has been quietly anchoring its segment for years, outselling every other compact pickup without making too much of a fuss. Toyota hasn't neglected the Tacoma – it was updated in 2012 with a revised nose and interior as the most noteable changes. In a world awash with high-value fullsize pickups all vying for your attention, the Tacoma still charms more than a few buyers out of their cash.

First things first: we really thought that a phone of such size would be a stretch - both figuratively and literally. But when we picked up the device, it felt surprisingly comfortable to hold and much lighter that you might anticipate. As for the design, make no mistake, Samsung merely took the Galaxy S 4, and gave it a good zap with the enlargo-gun. The curves, the home button, the bezel - all like on its little sibling. The color scheme, too, was lifted directly from the GS 4, with the models on display sporting the same blue chequered pattern.

Chinese Gamer Turns To Drug Dealing To Help Buy Virtual Goods

Being able to fund your gaming addiction is pretty difficult, especially if you don't have the means to keep up with it, which results in your competitors beating you on a regular basis due to the fact you can't afford better gear. But a 19-year-old Chinese man thought turning into a drug dealer would give him the cash he needed in order to buy better in-game gear in an MMORPG he was hooked on. Wang reportedly spent most of his days playing online video games inside of an Internet cafe, where he also worked as an attendant.

We're still waiting for Samsung's first flagship for 2013, the Samsung Galaxy S4, to land, but that doesn't mean we can't speculate about the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in the meantime. Rumored to be announced at IFA in Berlin this September, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is likely still very early in its design stages. We naturally didn't expect much different next to the Galaxy S4 considering the Note 2 borrowed the S3′s curvature and style, but new rumors suggest this might change.

here is always a niche for young blood to thrive in an established industry, and when it comes to haute couture, young designers such as Asher Levine could eventually spearhead the effort to introduce even more technology into what has been widely considered to be a monolithic fashion industry. Show off your workout with Radiate Athletics

These days there are many gadgets available to use alongside and during workouts. Of course, it's easy to strap on a heart rate monitor and see how well you are doing on a run, but what about when simply lifting weights. Radiate Athletics has designed a shirt that changes color according to your body heat. The science behind this is that engaging your muscles causes more blood flow, and they “heat up” as you work them out more. This heat is then reflected in the changing colors of the shirt.
