Apple iPad 3 To Get A Brighter Display, May Get Slightly Bulkier!

That's what we've been expecting right. Yes, but surprisingly, the new design will be unusually thicker than the second generation iPad. It will be slighter heavier too. That's not against the design policies of Apple which usually slims down the dimensions of newer products down the line.

New iPad due in March, aluminum iPhone 5 may launch this summer

. Apple reportedly plans to launch a slightly thicker (0.7mm) iPad in March with a dual-backlit display and a new high-resolution screen. It may be shown off in January if it's ready in time, iLounge reports. In addition, iLounge cites its “most reliable source” in stating that Apple will likely launch the iPhone 5 next summer. In contrast to a number of rumors, the site says that the iPhone 5 does not have a tear-drop design. Instead, it will be 8mm longer than the current model and will sport a metal case as well as a 4-inch display.

Torchlight 2 delayed possibly until 2012

Torchlight 2 delayed possibly until 2012

Bad news for those looking forward to Runic Games' Torchlight 2 game as it appears as though the game may have been delayed. The game was originally intended for a release some time this year, but a recent blog post by Runic Games' Travis Baldree has revealed that the game will be delayed. The reason behind this delay is due to Runic Games' efforts to try and iron out as many kinks as possible before its release. "The first Torchlight was released in record time, but it had plenty of issues that a little more development could have resolved. We didn't have the resources at the time to give Torchlight that treatment.

Avaak Announces New Mounting Options for VueZone Camera System

The VueZone system from Avaak is an easy to setup wireless security camera system that we've reviewed here on The Gadgeteer. Before today, the VueZone cameras weren't meant to be used outdoors because of a lack of weather resistance. Now the cameras can go outside when they are housed in the new water-resistant outdoor camera shell that protects the cameras from moisture. Other new mounting options include a new suction cup window mount and a table/ceiling mount.

Is SOPA supported by Apple, Microsoft and others?

Yesterday, we've posted a 5mn introduction to Stop Online Piracy Act (aka SOPA) proposed law, that is being debated right now. If signed into law, SOPA could let anyone sue -and shutdown- a site like YouTube because one user uploaded some illegal content. Today's alternative is that YouTube is given a short amount of time to remove the content. Obviously, neither solution is ideal and perfect, but the current situation based on the Digital Millennium Copyrights Act (DMCA) gives a chance for great services with user-generated content to exist.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus clears the FCC, appears to head for AT&T

So T-Mobile has the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, and not wanting to feel left out, it seems that AT&T may be getting the tablet as well. A recent FCC filing has revealed that the tablet gained their stamp of approval and it appears to support AT&T's HSPA+ connectivity. The WiFi only version of the tablet is already available in the US from retailers such as Best Buy and Amazon, but for those looking for a more convenient and possibly faster HSPA+ connection will be able to choose from both T-Mobile and presumably AT&T.

Verizon's Galaxy Nexus Will Have Bloatware… Barely

If you were worried that Verizon might put all their usual software on the Galaxy Nexus – V Cast, VZ Navigator and the like – here is some news for you. Recent screenshots have suggested that the Verizon Galaxy Nexus will come with two preinstalled applications. VZ Backup Assistant and My Verizon Mobile. Doesn’t seem too bad, right.
We imagine the applications won’t harm the first Verizon Nexus experience too much, and most rooters will likely get rid of it the moment they can. And even then, you can just hide it from your app tray in Android 4.0.

Samsung Galaxy S gets Android 2.3.5 update in the UK

The original Samsung Galaxy S resigned from the role of a flagship quite some time ago, but it's good to know that it's still getting good treatment by its maker. Samsung just started seeding the Android 2.3.5 update to the I9000 units in the UK, or at least to those of them who didn't already get it by the dark means of manually flashing one of the leaked ROMs. The changelog includes a batch of bugfixes to the system apps, some performance tweaks and the stock Gingerbread glow when you reach the end of a list.

Don't you think it was not too long ago when Google first introduced their Android operating system, leading people to wonder whether it will ever be able to make a foothold in the industry that was dominated by the BlackBerry army as well as Nokia. I guess things and times have changed a whole lot, not to mention Android gaining a real foothold in many markets across the world. Heck, the mobile operating system has even hit version 4.0 now, known as Ice Cream Sandwich, and Google decided it is time to introduce a new website for Android.

Judge Rules Law Enforcement Must Have a Warrant To Access Your Location Data

Good news today from our judicial system thanks to United States Judge Lynn Hughes who put the smackdown on a recently passed law that allowed for law enforcement to obtain location data records without a warrant or probably cause. Judge Kibosh ruled the law “unconstitutional” saying,. “When the government requests records from cellular services, data disclosing the location of the telephone at the time of particular calls may be acquired only by a warrant issued on probable cause.

Popular note taking app, Evernote, has been updated in the Android Market today. The most notable additions to the app are it's sharing tools allowing for users to fine tune exactly who they want to share their notes or notebooks with. Well sir or ma'am, you're exactly the type of person Samsung is hoping to snag with its Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. You can already order one with WiFi on board, but if it's cellular capabilities you're looking for, the latest model that just sauntered through the FCC might be the ticket. Motorola Mobility sued for allegedly stealing source code

. Lemko Corporation, a private software and systems developer, on Wednesday filed a complaint against Motorola Mobility alleging that it stole trade secrets and is financially benefiting from the misappropriation of Lemko's source code. The company claims that Motorola hired an engineer who developed unique, protected code while employed by Lemko, and proceeded to implement the source code on Motorola's servers without licensing the technology. The code in question relates to server side network-based positioning technology.

Kobo is something of a perpetual underdog. That may well change, after Rakuten acquisition of the company goes through, but for now, it's still a small organization battling giants like Amazon, Barnes & Noble and, to a lesser extent, Sony. With that in mind, the timing for the Vox's release certainly could have been better - the tablet has to go head to head with the Nook Tablet and Kindle Fire, both on sale this week. Well, we just received ours, and with that in mind, we immediately did what any other geek would do - we started playing with it alongside its bigger-named competitors.

Samsung and Sharp rumored to be shipping display panels for Apple's iPad 3

According to a new report by Digitimes, it seems that Apple may be gearing up for production of the iPad 3 as display manufacturers Samsung and Sharp have already started ship the display panels required for the tablet. No word on what happened to Apple's other display manufacturers LG Display and Chimei Innolux, but for now it appears that only Samsung and Sharp are in the picture. The iPad 3 is expected to make its debut in Q1 of 2012, much like its predecessors who have been launched around the same time. Assuming there are no hiccups with the iPad 3, there's no reason why Apple will be putting their yearly refresh on hold.

Gaiam Strap-Free Touch Trainer Watch

Monitoring one's heart rate is especially important for a fitness buff. Trying to gauge one's performance certainly does require checking up on one's heart rate now and then. But it takes a different king of heart monitor for those who are going through an activity. The easiest and most portable device is the most ideal. Oregon Scientific introduces the Gaiam Strap-Free Touch Trainer Watch for just this reason.

What makes the new Gaiam Strap-Free Touch Trainer Watch a more convenient heart monitor is that it does not necessarily require a chest strap to monitor the heart rate.

HTC Vivid receives ceases and desist letter over name

Oops, it looks like HTC did it again. It seems that adult entertainment company, Vivid, is not too pleased with HTC naming one of their devices after their company. Well, technically HTC did not name their device after the adult entertainment company, but the fact that the HTC Vivid shares the "Vivid" name is apparently enough for Vivid Entertainment to send a cease and desist letter to HTC. HTC is currently reviewing the complaint, and it seems that if they do not comply with Vivid Entertainment's request, they could face a potential lawsuit over trademark infringement.

I still have not gotten used to the idea wearing contact lenses, it feels really weird, but I guess for the many other millions out there, wearing a pair is the norm. How about a pair of smart contact lenses that are able to dispense of medication as and when the situation calls for it. Yes sir, a bunch of biomedical and chemical engineers from Alabama's Auburn University successfully designed the first disposable lenses that can deliver controlled doses of medication – for as long as you wear it, of course. What's the point of doing so.
