Google Glass Worn At NBA Draft By Magic's Victor Oladipo

Now that the 2012 – 2013 NBA season is behind us, the NBA now looks toward the future as they held their annual NBA draft yesterday in New York City. The NBA draft brings about its own moments of drama as NBA hopefuls sit back and hope they're picked by a team to play in the sports organization when the next season starts. That's why wearing a pair of Google Glasses during the draft was something Indiana Unveristy's Victor Oladipo decided he needed to do in order to not only capture the drama of the draft, but also the moment he was chosen to become a play for the Orlando Magic.

Google Play Movies For Android Updated, Nexus Q Support Pulled

Earlier today the new Google Play Movies for Android app was updated, the roll out process is staged so its becoming available in different markets at different times. The update itself brings a new layout and visual design, which is now actually consistent with a number of other Google apps, as Google Play Movies gets the new slide-out menu that we've already seen in other apps. There's also a new feature on-board called Watch Now, it suggests users what they would like to watch next, and lets them access that quickly.

Genres are on-board now, allowing users to discover music based on the various styles of music. Five more Charts types have been added as well, initially the app only came with Popular and Emerging charts.

Twitter Rolls Out Translation Feature On Windows Phone

Twitter Rolls Out Translation Feature On Windows Phone

Reading a person's Twitter messages in another language can be a pain if you happen to not know a lick of their language. Sure – you could enter what they wrote in Google Translator, but doing that to only learn what that person had for dinner or their thoughts on their own country's version of America's Got Talent isn't worth the trouble. That's why Twitter is testing out a new feature which uses Bing Translator to automatically translate a person's tweet if it wasn't written in English, and they're launching this test on its official Windows Phone app.

HTC One Coming In 'Glamour Red' To U.K. Next Month

We recently saw an HTC One completely dipped in 24ct gold, although two other wallet-friendly colors have previously been rumored to be in the works: blue and red. We have yet to hear any official details regarding either of these alternative colors for the HTC One, that is, until today as HTC has just announced the red HTC One is officially a thing. . The red HTC One will be available in the U.K. next month for the time being as no U.S. carriers have announced they will be carrying the newly announced color variant.

Nokia Lumia 520 Could Be Headed For AT&T

Nokia Lumia 520 Could Be Headed For AT&T

Nokia's Lumia 520 whilst not the most powerful or the most feature-packed Lumia device, is something of a success story, especially in markets such as India where it has been selling out. It is possible that this is due to its affordability, but in any case it looks like the phone could be close to launching in the US, thanks to a photo posted by @evleaks who teased the upcoming announcement by saying, "It's coming..." It is obviously the Lumia 520 due to the placement of the camera at the back, and it looks like it will be arriving on AT&T's network as the carrier's logo can be seen on the back the device as well.

Red HTC One announced for the UK

HTC UK has unveiled a red version of its One flagship smartphone – “Glamour Red”, to be exact. This will be exclusively available at Phones4U starting mid-July. It looks like customers won't be able to buy it unlocked, at least not for the beginning. Instead, Phones4U will offer the red HTC One on plans starting at £33 per month.

This will be HTC One's third color version, after silver and black (both already available). We've heard that a blue edition might also be introduced, but there's nothing official about this for now.

It's not clear if HTC will launch the red One in markets other than the UK.

Rumor: Motorola Droid RAZR Ultra And RAZR M Ultra Headed For Verizon

So, Motorola might be working to reinvent themselves with a spanking new logo which certainly adds a skip to our steps thanks to the introduction of some color, not to mention having the obvious "a Google company" right at the bottom, and what better way to celebrate a new logo than with rumors of new smartphones to go along with it as well. This is what we are talking about, with whispers going around that Verizon Wireless will be carrying the Motorola Droid RAZR Ultra and RAZR M Ultra sometime down the road – at least according to the (normally accurate and reliable) folks over at @evleaks.

NVIDIA SHIELD release date pushed back to July

Some bad news has just come through the newsroom for those of you who were looking forward to the NVIDIA Shield, the silicon company's Android-based Tegra 4 gaming handheld. The device's release date has been pushed back to July, and the delay was due to an issue with a third-party component, according to a statement we received from the Santa Clara company. During our final QA process, we discovered a mechanical issue that relates to a 3rd party component.  We want every SHIELD to be perfect, so we have elected to shift the launch date to July.

Google Play Edition HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 now available in the Play Store

This is the moment we've been waiting for, the Google Play editions of the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 are now available on Google Play. Hugo Barra himself tweeted the good news and although we're not seeing them show up in our Play Store just yet, I'm sure they'll be up any minute now. In the meantime, it might behoove you to know that the HTC One “Google Edition” still retains it's thumpin Beats EQ baked into the core OS, along with full stereo front facing speaker functionality. Unfortunately, some of the best Sense 5 features — along with those you've grown to love in TouchWiz — wont be making the transition.

Italy Passionately Returns To The Sport Sedan Game. In its 99-year history, Maserati has arguably never made a vehicle as important as this all-new Ghibli. Of course, there have been countless styling breakthroughs, mechanical advances and technical innovations, but no single passenger car has been required to bear the weight of the Italian company like its brand-new sport sedan. If the Ghibli succeeds, Maserati will welcome tens of thousands of new customers and, most importantly, celebrate a rekindled relationship with demanding North American buyers.

Samsung, Apple and Sony (surprisingly?) are now the top three smartphone vendors in Western Europe

Sony's recent mobile efforts haven't been in vain. According to IDC, the Japanese company has shipped 3.2 million Android smartphones in Western Europe in the first quarter of 2013. This allowed the Japanese company to take the third place in overall smartphone shipments in the region - behind the two incontestable leaders: Samsung (14.3 million units shipped), and Apple (6.2 million units). The waterproof Xperia Z (which has been a bestseller in Japan since day one) has probably helped Sony a lot.

LG followed Sony, with 2.4 million smartphones shipped.

And some of this LTE-A goodness may come earlier than expected. As early as this week, actually.

Part two of Sony's announcements at the Mobile Asia Expo in Shanghai was the introduction of the Sony SmartWatch 2. Taking a few cues from the original, this SmartWatch has been upgraded with even more of a stylish look, as well as enhanced functionality thanks to the advent of NFC. Folks can pair the SmartWatch with their NFC-enabled phones by simply making the two touch each other. The connection is maintained via Bluetooth, of course, so everything from there is a standard affair.

Leap Motion starts expanded beta, opens dev portal to the public, shows off Airspace app store (hands-on)

We tried our hands at playing Boom Ball (think Brickbreaker in 3D) and messing around in Google Earth, and found Leap to be as capable as the first time we saw it. Control was extremely precise, and being able to tilt our hand to change the angle of ricochet for balls or our direction of flight over the terrain in Google Earth felt natural and fluid. We also saw demos of Photoscape (a cover flow-esque photo viewer), Exoplanet (a 3D model of the known universe), and Block 54 (a Jenga-style game). Each showcased the kinds of basic controls you'd expect: swiping, pinch-to-zoom and selection by jabbing a finger an inch towards the screen.
