Neuroscientists develop game for stroke rehabilitation, give the Wii a run for its money

Think the Wii has the market cornered on gaming rehab. Think again - neuroscientists at New Castle University are developing a series of motion controlled video games to make stroke rehab more fun and accessible. The team's first title, dubbed Circus Challenge, lets patients digitally throw pies, tame lions and juggle to help them build strength and regain motor skills. As players progress, the game ratchets up its difficulty, presumably to match pace with their recovery.

Amazon prepping a 10-inch Kindle Fire?

A 10-inch Kindle Fire has been rumored for a long, long time. It was even believed that the first generation Amazon tablet would come in both the 7-inch and 10-inch flavors, until Amazon scrapped the larger version to focus on one device, and on keeping the price down. It worked brilliantly for the company, with the Fire believed to hold over 50% of the Android tablet marketshare. However, Digitimes has reported that there might be a 10-inch version coming after all, and might as early as the 3rd quarter of the year.

WP reportedly overtakes iPhone in China with 7% of market

While 7% of the Chinese smartphone market may seem like nothing to get excited about (especially considering Android had a staggering 68.4% last time we checked), it is an impressive statistic if you take into account that two months ago, not a single WP-powered device was for sale in China. Growth of this speed has only been seen in one other market so far: Nokia's backyard of Finland. Reports also indicate that WP is gaining tracktion in Russia too.

Google patent application could mean melody-matching for YouTube

YouTube has become a treasure trove for rare live editions, outtakes and covers of popular songs - the latter making stars out of acts like Pomplamoose. However, Google and the recording industry don't feel the same way, but the site's famous content filtering system can only handle exact matches of recorded songs - so that 14-year-old moppet's cover version of Born this Wayremains unfiltered. That could change should a patent application made available today result in a workable product.
