Renault has exceptional plans for this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, bringing six classic cars, four Formula One cars from this year's season and three current offerings. It will also be showing off two brand-new concepts, one of them gasoline-powered and another that's purely electric, and it's possible that the ICE concept has been spotted in Madrid on a video shoot. If so, it would be appear to be a fresh take on the Eighties-era Renault 5 that would look very nice next to the 1984 Renault 5 Maxi that will be at Goodwood.

Microsoft has finally picked up a patent for their Microsoft Touch Cover, thanks to the good people over at the US Patent and Trademark Office who were the ones who granted this particular patent. If one were to be more specific, it would boil down to Microsoft's design of the Touch Cover itself that picked up this particular patent, alongside the design that makes up the magnetic base for the cover that enables it to quickly and tightly hook up the Surface tablet to itself.

2014 Jaguar XJR unleashed just ahead of New York show (video)

Just a week after teasing us with the first image of the car, and mere hours before revealing it to the public at the New York Auto Show, Jaguar has pulled the wraps off of its 2014 XJR super sedan. The British automaker has confirmed that the XJR will be kicking out a full 550-horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque from its supercharged 5.0-liter V8, affording the sedan a 0-60 mile per hour sprint of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 174 miles per hour. A ZF eight-speed automatic transmission will still allow for respectable fuel economy, as Jag estimates ratings of 15 miles per gallon city and 23 highway.

Less than a year after Superstorm Sandy took out 250,000 cars and trucks, tennis ball-sized hail fell from the Mississippi sky this week and pummeled countless unprotected vehicles. Initial estimates say that more than 1,000 cars and trucks were damaged - hundreds at a large dealer mall where new vehicles are sold, and hundreds more near Nissan's assembly plant in Canton – plus those already registered by private owners.
