Don't try older Samsung MHL adapters with the Galaxy S3! It won't work

. Many of you have pre-ordered the US versions of the Samsung Galaxy S3 by now, or already have an international version. And if you have been rocking an older Galaxy S device with the MHL adapter, it is important to note that the cable will not work with your shiny Galaxy S3. Not that this is the biggest surprise, as new devices usually require new accessories. This minor inconvenience is due to a difference in the pin layout for Samsung's flagship smartphone.

Engineer makes light-up business cards with 555 timer, proves PCB skills

Sure, there have been some pretty creative variations on the standard paper business card, but if you're looking to make a career in electronics engineering, card stock isn't necessarily the best option for material. Such was the case for one student, who had the canny idea to make a card that demonstrates his printed circuit board know-how. He used a 555 timer that outputs a clock to the LEDs on the biz card, and placing a nine-volt battery on the terminals sets off the mini light show.

Mophie's Juice Pack PRO aims to keep iPhone 4x4S protected and powered during wild adventures

Staying true to its peripheral nature, Mophie's outed yet another iPhone companion: the Juice Pack PRO. Although the new power-boosting case doesn't carry as much juice as that Powerstation (not surprising, really), it does offer similar ruggedized aesthetics — which should come in handy the next time you decide to take your Cupertino handset on a hazardous trip.

Sprint investing in own payment platform, may drop Google Wallet

. Google's Wallet service has seen numerous setbacks since its initial launch last May. The platform was rejected by AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon, all of which opted to support the ISIS payment system instead, and has lived a quiet life on a small number of Sprint smartphones. This may not be the case in the near future, however. The nation's third largest carrier is reportedly planning to launch its own NFC mobile wallet solution as soon as this summer, according to NFC Times.

Posner smacks down Apple, Motorola and the U.S. patent system

. Judge Richard Posner, one of the most distinguished legal minds in the United States, sounds absolutely fed up with Apple and Motorola Mobility for wasting his time with their patent suits. In fact, Posner was apparently so perturbed with the arguments from both companies that he said their cases should be dismissed with prejudice, meaning they cannot be brought before a court again.

Watch a house fall off a truck and hit a car head on

Oh dear. Now, we'll admit to seeing a semi-truck carting a modular home and thinking, “Hmm… I wonder how well-secured that house actually is,” but we usually shrug it off after we've safely passed the wide load. Sadly, accidents happen, and one Russian driver recently experienced that very incident that we try our best not to think about. Thanks to the magic of the dash cam, the entire experience was caught on tape, and we can't even imagine what sort of pants-soiling reaction the driver of the unsuspecting car had when faced with an obstacle of that size. Scroll down to see the big crash for yourself.

Google Maps, Earth take on full 3D imagery

Google is keeping the string of Maps launches going — it's just rolling out very, very detailed 3D maps for technology like Google Earth, using a “new process” to get extra depth. In some areas, such as San Francisco, it models every building and delves down into the trees. The new fully textured, fully modeled imagery is coming both to Android and iOS in the “coming weeks,” and Google even made a point of showing the update running on an iPad.

Sprint's Palm C40: the Pre 2 that never made it

Take a look through the trousers of time at what might have been; a Palm Pre 2 on Sprint. WebOSNation managed to grab the very rare prototype from a Palm employee and it fortunately worked on the Now Network without the need for any screwdrivers or warranty busting. Despite its second-hand status, the phone cheerfully handled webOS 2.2.4, albeit without a licensed webOS Doctor. Aside from the swap to a CDMA radio, the rest of phone hardware chimes with the Verizon version that did arrive.

This is what a lifetime of sunshine can do to truckers

This picture of a 69-year-old trucker in The New England Journal of Medicine is striking. You can clearly see the effects of his 28-year career behind the wheel, with each wrinkle plotted out across his skin like a road map. The left side of his face got this way due to sun exposure, what those dermatologists who read NEJM call dermatoheliosis, a "thickening and wrinkling of the skin.". But what's really surprising is to see the full image of both sides of his face, and just how different the right side looks.

How many of your homes have a dedicated landline. I would assume that the general worldwide trend would show that the use of landlines are in decline, especially when mobile phones have gotten so affordable these days (am not talking about smartphones here, they are a different can of worms altogether). Well, for those of us who happen to have our smartphone or mobile phone line blocked for one reason or another, here is a lifeline – the public phone booth.

Cell phone parts retailer ETradeSupply managed to procure what it says is the unibody aluminum case Apple will use on what it refers to as the “iPhone 5,” which BGR expects to launch this fall. The iPhone casing appears identical to the housing that appeared in a number of leaked photos published by various websites last week.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special. Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.

Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it.

Dropbox for Android adds support for Korean language, ICS-only video streaming UI

You can't deny Dropbox has been doing a pretty decent job of handing out constant updates to Android users since its beginnings on the platform, and, well, today's no exception. This time the cloud box application - now in version 2.1.4 - brings along a couple of fresh bits to powered-by-Google devices. To start with, the free app's finally adding support for Korean language (on its website, too), while Dropboxers running Ice Cream Sandwich will also see a new "custom-tailored" video streaming UI - you know, to play nice with those fancy virtual buttons.

Matrox DS1 docking station: $249 buys you Thunderbolt but no daisy-chaining

Thunderbolt has leant its air of celebrity to yet another device: the Matrox DS1 docking station, due out this fall for $249. The laptop dock has room for pretty much everything you'd want to plug in when you reach your desk, including DVI, gigabit Ethernet, audio in and out, two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0. All those connections are then funneled into a single Thunderbolt output to your MacBook or Ultrabook. This provides “one cable convenience,” but the lack of an extra port means there's no scope for daisy-chaining Thunderbolt storage or other components you might pick up at some point before 2015.

There must be something in the water in in hardware-designer land. Small is en vogue, it seems, and to say we've been intrigued about this latest twist on diminutive form factors would be an understatement. So far, Android has largely (though not exclusively) kept itself firmly in the palms of our hands. But, increasingly it is popping up in places we never even thought about. For the uninitiated, that thing above - the Chinese-made MK802 - is a complete "mini PC" that's about the size of a USB flash drive or card reader. It has a 1.5GHz Allwinner processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard flash storage.
