Fujifilm unwraps FinePix F800EXR camera with wireless sharing to Android, iOS

If your company doesn't have a camera with WiFi sharing somewhere in your lineup, many will say you're not even in the photography game. Fujifilm is definitely playing: welcome the FinePix F800EXR, its first camera with wireless sharing as part and parcel of the experience. Its centerpiece is a free Photo Receiver app for Android and iOS devices that will catch as many 30 images at a time from an ad hoc WiFi camera link. The matching (if unceremoniously named) Camera Application can return the gesture by geotagging shots as well as finding existing photos on the map.

Happy 311th birthday, Detroit!

Happy 311th birthday, Detroit!

Detroit's significance to the history of the automobile is inarguable, and that makes it the only metropolis in America that we care to note when another candle is added to its cake. Today, the town that's known as both the Motor City and Motown celebrates its 311th birthday. It was founded on July 24, 1701 by French explorer Antoine de la Mothe, sieur de Cadillac, whose name was later immortalized as General Motors' luxury car brand. What began as a French fort and fur-trading settlement grew to become this country's hub of manufacturing in the 20th century, but now Detroit finds itself in a process of recalibration.

2013 Chevrolet Spark gets EPA rating of 32x38 MPG

Chevrolet can't be too happy with the EPA numbers for its tiny Spark. Equipped with the 1.2-liter engine and five-speed manual, the smallest Chevy in history gets 32 miles per gallon in the city, 38 on the highway for a combined EPA number of 34 mpg. Not bad, but not what we and, presumably, Chevy, were hoping for. Add the optional automatic transmission, and the numbers drop to 28 city, 37 highway and a combined number of 32 mpg.

According to reports online, the Nexus Q is now in stock at the Google Play Store and can be delivered to you in 3-5 business days. New iPhone cases confirm smaller 19-pin dock connector and 4″ display?

Back when the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S was going to be released, there were plenty of case leaks that helped us to speculate about what sort of features the tablet would have, and what it was going to look like. Well, it looks like that will be the case for the next generation iPhone as well. We've previously heard rumors about how the screen is going to be larger and that it's going to have a different dock connector. While we can't confirm those features personally, the folks over at MobileFun seem to think they can.
They've received images of alleged iPhone 5 cases that are said to protect a taller iPhone with a 4″ display.

Crucial ships mSATA-based m4 SSD upgrade, your Ultrabook never felt better

Crucial has already managed to stuff its m4 SSD into Ultrabook sizes, but the 7mm thick design may still be too portly for the thinner laptops in the pack. With that in mind, the flash memory guru has just started shipping the m4 mSATA, a barebones card that sits cozily next to the motherboard either as a cache for a rotating disk or as a main drive. It's still as speedy as many of its bigger cousins, with read speeds of up to 500MB/s per second.

CyanogenMod has been touted by many to be one of those custom ROMs on the Android platform that you absolutely must install – as it delivers a whole lot better user experience compared to the stock Android version, and even with some bells and whistles thrown into the mix in the form of the HTC Sense for HTC smartphones and Samsung TouchWiz for handsets from the South Korean manufacturer, it seems that those pale in comparison to what CyanogenMod is able to offer.

YouTube to make users use real names?

After last week's introduction of its face blurring tool on YouTube, Google has pulled off a pretty surprising move today. According to reports online, when users comment on YouTube now, they'll be asked to start using their full name on YouTube. The service will checked for a linked Google+ account and encourage users to use it. However if they decline, they'll be asked to give a reason to Google i.e. “My channel name is well-known”.

While the change wasn't publicly announced, YouTube had mentioned in the past that it was planning some changes to its commenting system and this might be it.

Honda is definitely famous for their cars and motorbikes around the world, but there is another aspect of the company that we have come to know and love as well – that is, its ability to delve into the world of robots. Case in point, the Honda Asimo was recently demonstrated in the form of an all new model, where it is said to be able to perform in a semi-autonomous mode. This particular version has also gone to the fat house so to speak, as it will tip the scales at approximately 6kg lighter compared to its predecessor, boasting individually-actuated fingers to boot.

Unfortunately, don't expect this transparent beauty to show up at retail stores when the supersized 3DS launches later next month, as it's nothing but a mere demo unit. The see-through XL was recently used by Nintendo to showcase the handheld's guts during a Q&A session on its website, and while it's currently just an extra-large test dummy, it could potentially be a sign of big things to come.

All roads lead to this year's IFA 2012 in Berlin, Germany. As you know, Samsung has already sent out invitations in the form of save-the-date emails for an event this coming August 15. And if the rumor mill is right, the next generation Galaxy Note could be unveiled during the event as well, albeit we're still ambivalent about it. We already have a tad of surrounding the device's specifications, including a 5.5-inch display with a purported 1280x720 resolution and an Exynos 4412 quad-core processor with Mali-400 graphics.

A couple of days ago, Samsung sent out invites to a launch event which will be taking place on the 15th of August where apparently a new Galaxy device will be unveiled. Many had quickly jumped to the conclusion that this might be the next Galaxy handset, although now many are speculating that it could instead be the launch for the Galaxy Note 10.1 which was unveiled earlier this year at MWC. Considering that the Galaxy S3 was recently launched, we admit it does sound very unlikely that the company will be unveiling a new smartphone so soon.

Lenovo's CEO, Yang Yuanqing, was recently handed that bonus, $5.2 million to be exact, but what makes this particular story different from the rest is that instead of keeping it all for himself, the CEO decided to hand out $3 million from his bonus to 10,000 junior-level employees. So what constitutes as a junior employee.

We're used to seemingly interminable waits for phone firmware upgrades for carrier-locked phones. What is it that takes so long. Vodafone UK isn't promising a quicker process, but it's offering a rare walkthrough of just what itself (and many other carriers) do to rubber stamp a firmware upgrade. Using the Huawei Ascend G 300's Android 4.0 update as the reference point, Vodafone explains that the actual network testing lasts a week or less, depending on the scope of the upgrade - it's the requirements for branding and carrier-specific network settings that introduce additional overhead.
