Daycraft – Alternatives to Moleskine and Rhodia Notebooks

Who among us is a notebook / stationary junky. Let's see a show of hands please… Me too. That's why I was grinning from ear to ear when the mailman dropped off a box of samples from a company that I'd not heard of before: Daycraft. I suppose the reason why I've not heard of Daycraft is because they are based in Hong Kong and do not seem to have any distributors here in the US. That's disapppointing because they are offering some quality notebooks that mix style with a dash of quirky.

Daycraft sent me 4 samples, but they offer many different types of notebooks, daily calenders and sketchbooks.

This is the Cookie Bookie notebook.

Hyundai says Elantra sales to slow because factory can't keep up with demand

Hyundai's Elantra has been on fire, with sales up 41 percent last year. The compact sedan won North American Car of the Year in January, and the icing on the cake will be a new coupe bodystyle that will soon be landing at dealers. But all is not completely well, according to a report from Bloomberg. Hyundai expects Elantra sales to run into a brick wall of limited production capacity, as the company's Montgomery, Alabama plant is already operating at 110 percent. The plant, which builds the Elantra and its big brother, the midsize Sonata, churned out 338,000 units in 2011. Hyundai sold over 186,000 Elantra models in the U.S.

Updated Droptop Doesn't Compromise Driving Dynamics For Fresh Air And Sunshine. Few experiences equal the feeling of driving a new 2012 Bentley Continental GTC down a crowded Los Angeles highway – especially when the droptop is prismatic magenta with highly polished 21-inch wheels. Some stare. Others glare. But most simply sneer.

The response should be expected. After all, a vehicle of this caliber is designed to broadcast to others that you have succeeded.

ZTE pays Microsoft around $27 for each Windows Phone made

ZTE pays Microsoft around $27 for each Windows Phone made

How much does it cost to license Microsoft's latest and greatest mobile OS. A fair bit it seems. While numbers have been bandied around before, this is the first time a per-handset figure was to an internal employee — this time, the portfolio manager for ZTE UK, no less. Pegged at $27 per ZTE smartphone, TrustedReviews managed to get those licensing beans spilled at the glitzy London launch of the company's first Windows Phone, the ZTE Tania. The fee flies in the face of open-source Android, which requires no price to install on handsets.

In the end, Samsung's profit has gone up by 76% year over year, and up 25% quarter to quarter. In the end, Samsung reported a $4.7 profit for the fourth quarter and wowed to increase its R&D expenses by 9% to continue advancing its products at a rapid pace.

Nintendo cuts 3DS sales forecast, will report first annual loss

. Nintendo recently published a note in which it said it will report an annual operating loss of 45 billion yen ($575 million) for the December quarter. Analysts had expected the Japan-based gaming giant to report a 4.2 billion yen loss, Reuters said Thursday. The company now expects to ship 10 million Wii consoles, instead of the original 12 million projected, and 14 million units of its portable 3DS gaming consoles, down from 16 million units. ”We had higher expectations for the year-end season, but failed to meet them,” President Satoru Iwata said while speaking to press in Osaka, Japan.

White Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G for Sprint is now only $99.99

The white-colored version of Sprint's Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G has been available since January 8. So far the price has been $199.99 with a new two-year contract, which isn't that bad considering how high-end this smartphone is even today. That said, cheaper is always better, so how about getting the white Epic Touch 4G for 50% off. That's exactly what you can do at Amazon today. The handset can be yours for just $99.99. You will of course still need to sign a new two-year contract with the carrier, but that's just how things are.

This pricing applies to new customers only.

Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX available from Verizon Wireless

Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX available from Verizon Wireless

Just as expected, the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX has hit Verizon Wireless like clockwork, where this new smartphone from Motorola will sport a rather huge 3,300 mAh battery – and we are extremely interested in the battery life benchmarks. Despite having such a large capacity battery, it still manages to remain relatively slim at a wee bit under the 9mm mark. Boasting up to 21 hours of talk time as claimed (anyone wants to stay on the phone that long to dispute that fact?), this is by far and large superior to the 1,780 mAh battery that is said to be able to last for 12.5 hours of talk time.

Lamborghini packing a surprise or two up its sleeve for Geneva?

Lamborghini packing a surprise or two up its sleeve for Geneva?

It was quite a while back that Lamborghini promised it would have something new for every major auto show. That seemed quite the claim at the time, particularly for a company with a two-car model lineup, but with a few exceptions here and there, the Italian automaker has been keeping pace famously. So what has Sant'Agata Bolognese got in store for us for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. A surprise – or two – from what we hear.
All indications are that the Aventador Roadster is ready to go. With 700 horsepower and no roof, that would be more than enough to garner its fair share of attention and then some.

Samsung and Sprint have pushed a new update to the Epic 4G Touch, bringing the software version to EL29 and taking care of a few minor issues along the way. The official changlog lists enhancements and fixes for dismissing multiple calendar alerts and activating the Commercial Alert System (CMAS) as well as a security update. There update also brings about a few chances in the handset’s radio version. Speculation is that a major element of the update is the removal of Carrier IQ software, which should come as pleasing news to owners of the Samsung Epic 4G Touch.

If you thought manufactures weren't sitting up in their highrises, thinking up new ways to market their products to your kids, you'd be wrong. Since it isn't exactly legal to sell nicotine to minors (yet), Bandai has begun packaging some of their more popular line of toys (Thundercats, Ben 10) in an all new, augmented reality ready package. When viewed using your favorite smartphone, the toy inside jumps to life with sounds and lifelike movement. The results are nothing short of breath taking and just the thought of having something like this when I was a kid, fills me with pure elation.

Lucasfilm is getting the promotional train rolling for the re-release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace in 3D with the release of Darth Maul Me for Android. As the name may or may not make clear, the app allows you to take a photo of yourself or a friend and use some simple onscreen controls to transform your face into that of the evil Sith lord Darth Maul. The results, as you can see above, aren’t always the best. Especially if you have to take the image yourself. The app allows for the use of the front-facing camera, but at least on the Galaxy Nexus I used to capture the above image the photo was captured upside down.

'Smart Fabric' could control climate, audio functions in future BMWs

Touchscreens are becoming common and touch pads – like those in the Audi A7, A8 and next A3 – are gaining traction, but the next input revolution might not be gesture controls, it's likely to be "smart fabrics" and BMW is already toying with the technology. Researchers at the Polytechnic School of Montreal, Canada have developed a new flexible, polymer-based fiber that can be woven into existing fabrics. Essentially, it's a capacitive pad that can register touches and swipes when alternating current is plumbed through the fibers.
