Editors' Choice: Top Five 2012 LA Auto Show Debuts

Editors' Choice: Top Five 2012 LA Auto Show Debuts

Well, we've tied the bow on yet another Los Angeles Auto Show. And while we're still here soaking up some of the SoCal sun (okay, so it's actually raining a little), it's time to look back and decide what new models grabbed our attention in the best way possible while we perused the LA Convention Center. This show occasionally gets shafted on ultra-hot reveals simply because it falls directly between a major European auto show (either Paris or Frankfurt, depending on the year) and the North American International Auto Show in Detroit – the most important show in the United States.

Geneva WorldRadio Unveiled

Geneva WorldRadio Unveiled

Geneva has just introduced what they deem to be a contemporary take on the classic world receiver, calling it simply as the WorldRadio. This particular radio is capable of receiving all of the available radio stations via the broadcasting technologies of that particular era, where among them include FM, long, and short waves. Fast forward to today, and most of the popular local radio stations would be broadcast over FM, via DAB digital radio in select European countries and thousands of others can be tuned in over the Internet.

Surface Pro Will Have Half The Battery Life Of Surface RT

When we reviewed the Surface RT in October, we were quite impressed with its 10-hour battery life. So when Microsoft announced the pricing details of its upcoming Surface Pro tablet earlier today, we dug a little further to find out how good its battery life will be. The Surface Pro tablet might have a lesser battery life, at least that is what Microsoft is saying on Twitter.

Google's Bradley Horowitz does not appear to be a fan of Facebook's advertising

When it comes to the social networking space, there are a number of major players, such as Facebook, Twitter and recently Google+, albeit the latter does not have quite the same amount of clout as the former two. That being said, it seems that Google's Bradley Horowitz in an interview with Business Insider was quoted as calling Facebook a "social network of the past", and pointed out that the way Facebook introduced their ads was annoying and frustrating both users and the brands that are being advertised.

Nintendo Unveils Wii Mini; Currently Exclusive to Canada

Nintendo Unveils Wii Mini; Currently Exclusive to Canada

Nintendo has announced a new version of its Wii console. The crimson-bordered Wii Mini is a trimmed-down Nintendo Wii, taking away both GameCube compatibility (which already happened in the 2011 edition) and, more importantly, Internet access. Removing online access would make the Wii Mini the most barebone among the Wii's, just like previous Nintendo consoles that plays games and nothing else. However, the console still has parental controls that let parents manage the content their children can access.

The Nintendo Wii Mini will be available exclusively in Canada beginning December 7th for $99.99.

FlymeOS Port For the Galaxy S

The Samsung Galaxy S I9001 is not exactly one of those devices out there which you would fall in love with at first glance, and it is definitely far from the glamorous Galaxy S3 when it comes to popularity at this point in time. Well, it seems that there is a rather big port that is being worked upon, which will eventually see the increasingly popular FlymeOS being ported over, courtesy of XDA forum member sc4les.

Toyota issues recall for 150K Tacoma pickups over possible spare tire trouble

Toyota issues recall for 150K Tacoma pickups over possible spare tire trouble

Toyota has initiated a recall of its Tacoma pick-up from the 2001 to 2004 model years, with up to 150,000 units affected. Tacomas sold in 20 snowbelt states and the District of Columbia could have an issue with the lift plate on their spare tire carrier, which is a piece of metal that helps raise the emergency spare wheel located at the back and underneath the truck. The plate might not have been properly coated with anticorrosion protection, and this could lead to the plate corroding on trucks driven in states that use salt on the roads during the winter.

Microsoft And Amazon Smartphones Coming?

Microsoft And Amazon Smartphones Coming?

It was rumored that Microsoft might be looking into churning out additional hardware, especially after they have had done a pretty good job with the Windows RT tablet, although sales of that tablet seemed to fall short of Microsoft's expectations. Having said that, the new hardware that Microsoft could possibly work on is unsurprisingly, a Windows Phone 8-powered device, as this segment of the market does seem to offer more promise compared to the tablet niche. It would seem that should a Windows Phone 8 handset from Microsoft surface (heh, sorry about that, I could not resist the pun), it would carry a similar Surface branding.

Nokia intros Asha 205 with Facebook button, 206 dual SIM phone, new Slam service

Nokia intros Asha 205 with Facebook button, 206 dual SIM phone, new Slam service

Nokia has officially announced two new phones, and a new service. The handsets are the Nokia Asha 205 and the Nokia 206, while the service is called Slam. The Asha 205 follows in the footsteps of the Asha 200 and Asha 201 that were released last year. It's presented as the "most social Asha phone ever", and one of the reasons for this is that it's the first Nokia handset to come with a dedicated Facebook button (which, of course, provides quick access to the world's most favorite social network).

No Borderlands for the Wii U, Gearbox CEO explains why

No Borderlands for the Wii U, Gearbox CEO explains why

Unless the game is an exclusive for a certain console, chances are if it is developed for the PlayStation 3, you will probably see an Xbox 360 version and vice versa, and most of the time the Nintendo Wii gets left out of the mix. If you were hoping that things would change with the Wii U, you might be disappointed as according to Gearbox's CEO, Randy Pitchford, it looks like Borderlands will not be making its way onto the Wii U, which will probably be a bummer for many gamers who were hoping for a possible Wii U version of the game.
