Charge your devices without an outlet with a Folding USB Solar Cell

Charge your devices without an outlet with a Folding USB Solar Cell

I love to be away from the world at times. Whether I am at the beach, up in the mountains, or just hanging outside, I always have my phone with me. The thought of being ‘green' and being able to keep my devices charged when I am out on the go made me take interest in the 5W and 7W Folding USB Solar Cell by Brown Dog Gadgets. These solar cells fold up on each other for protection and portability when not in use. To use them, you simply unfold them and face the cells towards the sunlight, with options to suction them to a window or tie them to a backpack, and plug in your USB charging cable to one of the two USB ports.

Beverly Hills road rage incident ends with BMW driver ramming bicyclist

An instance of road rage turned mortally dangerous in Beverly Hills, CA, recently, when an incident between a cyclist and a BMW driver took a scary turn in front of a rolling security camera. LA Weekly reports that the person on the bicycle and the driver of the 2008 BMW 328i in the video had some kind of altercation, resulting in the cyclist punching the driver. The driver then followed the biker to an alley on the 9000 block of Wilshire Blvd and, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department, "Intentionally rammed the bicyclist with his vehicle pinning him to a metal rolling trash bin.".

IIHS survey says D.C. residents like speed and red-light cameras

IIHS survey says D.C. residents like speed and red-light cameras

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) released a study this week that seems to go against what critics and the media have been reporting for years. According to the report, some people – more specifically, a large majority of the residents in Washington D.C. – actually like red light and speed cameras. The study, conducted in November 2012, interviewed 801 people who live in the District. Of those surveyed over the phone, 71 percent had driven and walked in the city during the past month, 23 percent had walked and not driven and 4 percent had driven and not walked.

Reborn Ford Escort could make its way to Europe

The Ford Escort concept just unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show was created with the Chinese market in mind, but it's got people talking all over the world. Not purely fancy, the point of the Escort concept was to give Chinese buyers a preview of what they could expect to see in a Ford showroom in the near future.

Motorola Photon Q now receiving Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on Sprint

Motorola Photon Q now receiving Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on Sprint

The Motorola Photon Q was a device I was always eyeballing on Sprint. I guess somewhere, deep down I've never really gotten over a full 5-row QWERTY. In any case, Photon Q users have something to get excited about. It's been almost a full year since Jelly Bean and after watching almost every other high-end device receive the J-Bean, it's now the Q's turn.
Starting today, Motorola Photon Q users on Sprint can look forward to and update to software version 9.8.2Q-122_XT897_FFW-5, bring their device's firmware up to Android 4.1. Yes, it's not 4.2, but at least it's something.

Nokia Unveiling New Lumia On May 14

Nokia's CEO Stephen Elop hinted a new Nokia Lumia should be expected to be announced ‘later this quarter‘ a few weeks ago, with a rumor of the device possibly being unveiled today. That rumor turned out to be false as we have yet to hear of any announcement for Nokia's future Lumia, but we did receive an invite for an event happening on May 14 in London. The invite has the words “The Nokia Lumia Story Continues” displayed along with the date, location and Nokia's logo.

Hear Alexander Graham Bell's Voice From An 1885 Recording

Alexander Graham Bell is one inventor whose impact is still felt to this day as the invention of the telephone made it possible to communicate with people around the world instantly by using our voices. Nowadays, cell phones are used as more than just a mobile telephone as we can communicate with others in a number of ways, but without the telephone, who knows how the cellular phone and smartphones would have shaped up to be. So when we heard you can now listen to what Bell may have sounded like when he made his historic first call, we let our ears enjoy the sweet sounds of the 19th century immediately.

Honda boss says Chinese drivers don't want green cars

Honda boss says Chinese drivers don't want green cars

According to The Wall Street Journal, Honda CEO Takanobu Ito believes that China's nascent car-buying demographic isn't all that interested in hybrid cars – at least not yet. The emissions story doesn't resonate with them, and certainly not for the higher purchase premium such models usually carry. What they really want, Ito believes, is reliable, affordable cars that fit their needs. When it comes to Honda sales, the numbers would appear to jibe with his thoughts: Honda sold 598,577 vehicles in China last year through its two joint ventures, yet just 542 of them were hybrids – not even a tenth of a percent.

Spatio for Android aims to become the next big Holo Facebook app

While the official Facebook for Android app has gotten a lot better in recent months thanks to the company ditching the HTML 5-based user interface in lieu of an all-native client, we would still prefer it if Facebook got with the times and introduced a version with Holo design. Some folks aren't willing to hold their breath that long, though, and are likely seeking third-party alternatives. There aren't many good ones for Android, with the most notable being OneLouder's Friendcaster. That particular app is quite nice indeed, but we love having an even more vast sea of apps to choose from.

Gaming can be hard work, or so some of you hardcore gamers say. Well, when you are engrossed with a particular title like say, the Metal Gear Solid or Grand Theft Auto series, there is very little time for anything else other than the mandatory toilet breaks. Food. What's that.

HTC One hit with preliminary injunction in Netherlands over Nokia microphone technology

It may not be another patent dispute, but that doesn't mean HTC hasn't landed themselves in hot water once again. The manufacturer of one of the best Android devices to date may have unknowingly placed a giant target on their backs with the release of the One. Nokia was granted a preliminary injunction against the HTC One in the Netherlands over its use of a “high-amplitude microphone,” a Nokia owned component. According to Nokia, this technology was to be manufactured exclusively for them by ST Electronics and is a breach of their signed NDA (non-disclosure agreement).

Tech Companies Donate Money To Aid China's Earthquake Affectees

Some people have misconceptions that tech companies are all about money, that all they do is churn out new products every quarter to maximize their earnings. Many big companies are involved in social not-for-profit projects, its their way of “giving back.” As we all know that China's Sichuan province was rocked by a massive earthquake on Saturday, to aid affectees of this calamity, many big tech companies are donating money. These companies include arch rivals Apple and Samsung.

Gary Approved. There's a guy that goes to my gym who can't get enough of the Lexus LS – let's call him Gary. Gary's the guy – you've probably got one at your gym, or coffee shop, or some other public but quasi-social location – who talks to everyone he meets. Sit next to him on the rowing machine or run by him on the track, and he's almost certainly going to bend your ear for a minute or 20.

Mysterious Fujitsu FJDEV001 Devices Appears On AnTuTu Benchmarks With Impressive Scores

Sporting the latest technology from both Qualcomm and Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy S4 with the Exynos 5 Octa-core chipset and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset are certainly performing very well as far as their AnTuTu benchmark scores are concerned, but it looks like hot on their heels is a mysterious device from Fujitsu, the FJDEV001. At this point in time not much is known about this mysterious handset, although some are speculating that it could very well sport the Snapdragon 600 chipset due to its score of 25,458, a score which is sitting around the same numbers as the Qualcomm-based Galaxy S4.
