Those outside of Formula One circles may not recognize the name Patrick Head, but rest assured just the same that his departure from the Williams team marks the end of an era. Head co-founded the team together with Frank Williams in 1977 and was instrumental in all of the outfit's many victories. Until 2004, he served as the team's technical chief, remaining on board ever since as engineering director.
