Facebook might lost a few thousand users who hail from California's state prisons after the state requested the social networking giant to close down accounts of inmates there, as they abused their Facebook accounts by posting Facebook updates after gaining access to them via contraband cell phone. According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, over 7,284 contraband cell phones were found in state prisons during the first half of the year, which is an increase of nearly 300 times compared to 2006′s 260.
