New HTC Ville photos leak, slim waistline and specs reconfirmed

We got yet another portion of leaked HTC Ville live photos, garnished with a nice specs sheet. The Android smartphone is expected to be unveiled by HTC at their press conference on February 26 and slide beneath the Edge in the company's chain of command. The HTC Ville will reportedly be the slimmest HTC smartphone to this day, having a profile of just 8.9mm. Previously we heard that the Ville will measure just 8mm, but 8.9mm sounds quite great too, especially for a mid-range device.

Verizon and Coinstar team up to take on Netflix

While Netflix has been slowly declining in popularity thanks to its questionable decisions last year, it looks like the company has got a new challenger on the block. As if Redbox wasn't enough competition in the physical medium market, Netflix will now have to deal with a new video service from Verizon and Coinstar (the company behind Redbox). While the name of the service wasn't mentioned yet, the service is touted to offer all the “convenience, simplicity and value of Redbox new released DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals combined with a new content-rich video on-demand streaming and download service from Verizon.”.

The 12 MP Nokia Lumia 910 rumor officially refuted

Remember the 12 MP Nokia Lumia 910 that surfaced several days ago in the Netherlands. It sure sounded awesome, but as it turns out it isn't happening. The official confirmation was brought by the Nokia camera guru Damian Dinning. The head of Imaging Experience of the Nokia Smart Devices division was asked by a fan to comment on the rumors and he responded that a 12 MP Lumia 900 smartphone simply doesn't exist.

Another interesting bit to be had from the conversation that took place in Twitter is that the Nokia Lumia 900 uses the same 8.7 megapixel sensor as the Lumia 800 and Nokia N9.

Samsung Galaxy Note up for pre-order on AT&T and Best Buy

The Samsung Galaxy Note has finally landed on US shores and is now available for pre-order through AT&T and Best Buy stores for $299 and a two-year contract. Orders are said to start delivering starting Saturday, February 19. The phone will be available in two colors, Carbon Blue and Ceramic White, and will have a bunch of optional accessories to go with it, such as a desktop docking station, spare battery charger and flip cover case and pen holder.
The AT&T version of the phone looks a bit different due to the four control keys below the display instead of the two touch keys and a physical Home button on the international model.

Renault chops UK lineup in half

Renault has a wide array of products in its portfolio. In its home market it offers a baker's dozen model lines, and when you get down to bodystyles the range ratchets up past 20. While we don't get any of them in North America, the United Kingdom remains a vital market for the French automaker. But British buyers haven't been buying Renaults as much as they used to, prompting a drastic shift in strategy. As a result, Renault is cutting the Modus, Kangoo, Wind, Laguna, Espace and the entire Gordini line from its UK lineup, .

So what does that leave for UK shoppers? The Twingo, Clio, Megane, Grand Scenic and Traffic.

Ubisoft to take mobile gaming seriously?

If domain name registrations are to be an indication of a company's future direction, it looks like Ubisoft is about to look at mobile gaming seriously. The company recently registered two domain names related to mobile - Ubisoftmobile.com and Ubisoft-mobile.com. At the moment both URLs lead to parked websites and nothing related to Ubisoft, so we can't say for sure. But if Ubisoft didn't purchase the domain names just to prevent any future cyber-squatting, it looks like the game publisher/developer could be focusing its efforts on creating mobile games in the future.
