South Korea plans to convert all textbooks to digital, swap backpacks for tablets by 2015

South Korea plans to convert all textbooks to digital, swap backpacks for tablets by 2015

Well, that oversized Kindle didn't become the textbook killer Amazon hoped it would be, but at least one country is moving forward with plans to lighten the load on its future generation of Samsung execs. South Korea announced this week that it plans to spend over $2 billion developing digital textbooks, replacing paper in all of its schools by 2015. Students would access paper-free learning materials from a cloud-based system, supplementing traditional content with multimedia on school-supplied tablets.

Powershovel's CLAP Digital Camera Is Tiny

Powershovel's CLAP Digital Camera Is Tiny

Looking to do some espionage. Or perhaps you want a camera that can fit into your pocket without creating unnecessary bulge, or perhaps you're just looking for a novelty item. Either way, Powershovel's CLAP digital camera could be what you're looking for. . Measuring in at 1.4-inches x 2.8-inches x 0.59-inches, it weighs only 24g and it has a very minimalist look, very means it could pass off as being rather discreet. The CLAP camera is reported to feature a 2MP F2.8 (3.2mm) lens and can shoot images at 1280 x 1024 resolution (which is usually more than enough for regular use) while saving them as JPEG files.

Option Unveils VIU2, A Plug And Play 3G Security Camera

Belgium based 3G modem vendor, Option, has announced today their plans for a new plug and play 3G security camera, which they have dubbed the VIU2. They claim the camera is easy to set up and can be used in any environment – all the user would have to do is select their desired location for the camera, plug in the power cable and they're good to go. The camera is reportedly activated and managed through a personalized VIU2 webpage. The camera is said to work pretty much like a regular security camera, detecting the presence of a possible intruder through the use of motion and sound detectors.

YouTube uploader catches Michael Bay reusing scenes from The Island for Transformers 3

YouTube uploader catches Michael Bay reusing scenes from The Island for Transformers 3

The attached video explains it all, so we'll keep this simple. It seems Michael Bay directly cribbed scenes from his 2005 movie, The Island, for 2011′s Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which is gobbling up people's disposable income this weekend, which sucks terribly to me. The 3D is totally not worth it. Anyway, extreme credit goes to the YouTube user who recognized Bay's clever use of CGI and called him out on it. This also proves that at least one human being actually saw The Island.

Apple posts Final Cut Pro X FAQ following backlash, promises multicamera support and other updates

Apple posts Final Cut Pro X FAQ following backlash, promises multicamera support and other updates

Though Apple took to the pages of The New York Times last week to respond to a chorus of criticism about Final Cut Pro X, it's clear the company is going to have to go a little further in assuaging videographers who were alarmed to learn that the built-from-the-ground-up software omits certain key features found in Final Cut Pro 7. The outfit has posted an FAQ page on its site, which answers oft-repeated questions, yes, but also reassures users that some — but not all — of these features are on the way.
