MO-TO wooden cars are begging for a spot on your desk (video)

Normally when we report on promising crowd-funding projects, we're writing about things and ideas that we'd like to see come to life. In the case of this new MO-TO wooden toy car collection from Candylab Toys, however, the online world has already voted loudly that the product should come to market. With close to 900 backers raising about $52,000 more than the Kickstarter goal of twenty grand, MO-TO designers Vlad and Florin seem to have a small hit on their hands. One browse through the MO-TO promo page, and we can see why.

Jaguar XJ220 hooned remotely by a kid

Jaguar XJ220 hooned remotely by a kid

The Tax the Rich crew has a knack for indulging in automotive fantasies and capturing it all on video, such as a tug-of-war battle between two Ferrari F50s, drifting a Ferrari Enzo on gravel roads and even powersliding a Rolls-Royce Phantom on a field of wet grass. This latest video features a Jaguar XJ220 and a kid with an iPad, who somehow is able to control the old supercar with the Apple product. No, there's no app for that (yet), and we lied - the boy isn't actually controlling the car - but it sure is nice to see the XJ220 in all its turbocharged, six-cylinder glory doing donuts and sliding across a grassy field.

If your lunch is as important to you as it should be, you probably want to protect it from possible mayhem. Norwegian based Unikia offers all sorts of innovative products, but their unique variety of food containers is what first caught my eye. The Compleat Robust is a lunch box that features an impact resistant shell, a spacious interior that should be big enough to hold a large meal, and there's also a liquid-proof inner box. A bungee strap system on the back of the box can be used to hold a water bottle or thermos (which is not included with the purchase of the Compleat Robust lunch box).

Verizon Reportedly Blocks Out Vacation Days Surrounding Supposed iPhone Launch

There's been a number of rumors circulating in regards to major U.S. carriers possibly blacking out dates so their employees would be in full force for when the iPhone 5S and / or iPhone 5C are potentially released next month. We've heard both T-Mobile and AT&T are rumored to have blacked out dates surrounding the possible release date range of the upcoming iPhones, and today, we're hearing Verizon Wireless may also have blacked out dates. The alleged blacking out of employee dates is being reported by 9to5Mac, although they cannot confirm the vacation restrictions are, in fact, as a result of the upcoming iPhone launch.

FIA gears up to launch new Formula 4 championships worldwide

Formula One may get all the glory – and rightfully so – but it's not the only racing formula out there. There are many steps along the motorsports ladder, but they're all run by different authorities and under different names. There's GP2, GP3, Formula Three, Auto GP, Formula Renault, Formula Ford, Formula BMW, Formula Vee. the list goes on, and leaves some rungs missing on the ladder up to the big leagues in some countries. But Gerhard Berger is keen on fixing that.

T-Mobile Moto X might only be available through the Google Play Store according to leak

While the Moto X officially launched last week on AT&T and today on Verizon Wireless, there are still many questions left unanswered in regards to Moto X availability remaining carriers like Sprint and T-Mobile. When it comes to T-Mobile, we may have a little more info on where customers will be able to purchase the device and oddly enough, it appears it wont be through retail stores, or direct from Motorola. TmoNews managed to grab this internal screenshot from T-Mobile, showing that the X might only be available through the Google Play Store where it mentions the device will only be “sold by Google”.

Pressy uses your 3.5mm headphone jack to give you a customizable external button [KICKSTARTER]

Allow me to turn your attention to one of the hottest projects going on over at Kickstarter right now. It's Pressy, an accessory that fits itself snugly into your device's 3.5mm headset jack. It's not a pair of headphones or external speakers, though — it's a button. A button that you press. Hence, Pressy. And this button can be configured to do anything you want it to do.

Pressy will allow you to activate/initiate nearly any task on your phone simply by pressing the button. For instance, you could click once to turn the flashlight on, and click again to turn it back off.

Acer Liquid S2 Phablet Spotted In Benchmarks

Acer has primarily been known for their computer offerings, although the company has attempted to enter the mobile market with tablets and smartphones, with the latter typically featuring rather uninspired hardware and design, like the Liquid Z3 being one of them. The company has also attempted a phablet of its own earlier this with the Liquid S1 and if you recall earlier rumors, a Liquid S2 could be on its way, and recent benchmark sightings might have revealed and "confirmed" some of its alleged specifications. Samsung co-CEO Ordered Tizen Smartphone Delay [Rumor]

Rumor has it that Samsung Electronics co-CEO JK Shin ordered that the company's first Tizen smartphone be delayed. The smartphone was previously expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2013, it was rumored that Samsung had pushed the launch to October, or the fourth quarter of this year. Shin apparently handed down this order so that Samsung could get even more time to create “the best smartphone.”. It is said that the company was testing Tizen on a Galaxy S3, some considered this to be a hint that the first Tizen smartphone would have hardware similar to the Galaxy S3.

We think it's safe to say 2K Games & Gearbox Software's Borderlands 2 has been deemed a huge success by gamers who appreciate the titles mix of first-person shooter elements along with role-playing game features. Since its release, we've seen a number of downloadable content, such as the Krieg the Psycho and Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, but if you purchase the game now, you're going to be spending a ton of cash on the game and its additional DLC. That's why 2K and Gearbox Software will be releasing Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition on October 8 in North America and October 11 internationally.

Apps need to get updated from time to time in order to keep up with the fast paced society that users live in. In fact, if a particular app does not get its fair share of updates, you can be sure that it will lose out on its market share – fast. Google has been pretty consistent in the past to deliver app updates across various mobile platforms, and this time around, it would be the native Gmail for iOS app that has been given a bump up to version 2.4.

Sony is continuing its #bestOfSony teasers of the Xperia Z1 / Honami with a look at the camera. A G logo next to it indicates the upcoming cameraphone will be using Sony's G lens, which is Sony's line of lenses for DSLRs and digicams. There's an LED flash next to the camera – single-LED and no xenon as early rumors indicated. We guess the Xperia Z1 will rely on its relatively big 1x2.3" sensor for low-light photography. It's about 70% bigger than most smartphone camera sensors used at the moment.

Ever since Subaru released the BRZ, fans have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of the STI version. But despite the recent release of the tS package, the brand faithful will have to wait a little longer, because the tS stops short of the full STI treatment. But at least it looks the part. Though the BRZ tS doesn't encompass any major engine mods to speak of, it does benefit from a number of enhancements: a new driveshaft, aero kit, Brembo brakes, Recaro buckets and more. Which may be more than enough for some, but to tip the scales of disappointment, Subaru will only make 500 such examples, and they'll only be available in Japan.

HTC Mini+ appears on HTC's site - a big phone accessory that comes with NFC, laser pointer, and IR blaster

It was a few months ago that the HTC J Butterfly launched in China and with that, came the HTC Mini. Not to be confused with the HTC One Mini, the HTC Mini was a companion device for larger handsets that essentially acts as a Bluetooth handset/remote control for making quick calls, without having to commit to pulling out your smartphone to handle the once complicated task (sarcasm). More recently, we saw a revamped version of the accessory arrive in the UK in the form of the HTC Mini+, adding an IR blaster and universal remote functions, on top of a laser pointer and tiny 1.5-inch 128×128 resolution OLED display.

As we approach the launch of Xbox One, more official details are coming and the Hot Chips conference, John Sell (Xbox One chip architect) himself has shed new light on what the Xbox One Processor is and what it can do. First of all, he confirmed what the Xbox One design already told us: Microsoft absolutely wants to avoid a repeat of the initial overheating, crash (ring of death) and product return problems that plagued the initial release of Xbox 360. That probably explains the ample (oversized?) inside volume, and the presence of cooling vents all over the console.

Popularity of pay-as-you-drive auto insurance accelerating

In the face of rising auto insurance premiums, insurance companies have been responding with potentially cheaper, pay-as-you-drive plans that, for billing purposes, track when, how, how much and where drivers use their vehicles instead of basing rates on statistics and past trends, The Detroit News reports. The practice isn't yet mainstream, but the National Association of Insurance Commissioners predicts 20 percent of insurance plans will be pay-as-you-go in five years; right now they account for less than one percent. But privacy concerns already are being raised due to the GPS tracking that's required for this type of insurance.

In response to Tesla's claim that the Model S is the safest car ever tested, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has released a statement clearing up how it rates cars. While not denying that the Model S is a very safe car, the agency said that its rating system is only between one and five stars – nothing higher and nothing lower. This means that, unlike honors classes in college and high school, there is no way to score above the highest rating, and Tesla says that it received a 5.4-star rating (although there is no indication where it got this information).

Okay, it seems everyone has a new and improved wallet design these days. But with all the various designs, shapes, and materials being used for wallets, one needs to be a little different to catch my eye. The Flip Wallet, a Kickstarter project by Elizabeth Drew, has done just that. The Flip Wallet is a bi-fold wallet made out of elastic; it has two main compartments for your cards and a small elastic band running inside and out to hold your paper money and receipts. The Flip Wallet also has a small elastic loop to keep the wallet securely closed and a label loop to allow you to secure your keys to the wallet.

The future of the new CUV remains uncertain, but if Jaguar does dip its toes into the SUV/crossover pool, though, the new vehicle will likely be a car-based soft roader, lacking (or perhaps more appropriately, not needing) the off-road-engineered chops inherent in Land Rover's small CUV platform.
