This is the sharpest card in your wallet the Cardsharp4

I will admit it, I am not the knife aficionado I was once. I used to love knives, all sort of knives and while I still do have the odd or unusual knife around, I have mainly limited myself to the utilitarian variety of knife (Swiss Army type, Leatherman) but I do own a Cardsharp folding credit card knife. While you may have seen a review here by Julie on the Cardsharp, there have been a few newer versions since. The Cardsharp4, Ian Sinclair's latest version of this folding credit card knife, is out and it is a whole different animal this time.

All-wheel drive vehicle sales flourishing

As the market for new vehicles continues to improve and crossover and pickup sales have caught fire, it's perhaps no surprise that the sales of all-wheel-drive (and four-wheel-drive) vehicles are also on the rise. Using data provided by Polk, The Detroit News points out that nearly one-third (31.3 percent) of all new vehicles sold this year through September were equipped with either all- or four-wheel drive. This is up from slightly more than a quarter (26.3 percent) during the same nine-month span of 2008.

Android Device Manager app hits the Google Play Store

Android Device Manager app hits the Google Play Store

When Google launched the Android Device Manager, many users rejoiced. Finally, a built-in solution for finding, locking and securing lost devices. It was great, but the fact that you had to head to a web browser to do anything with it was a bit of a turn-off. A simple bookmark to the device manager site had us techies on our way, but your average Joe probably didn't care to find and remember the URL.
That should all change with the release of a new app today. Google has released an Android Device Manager app in the Play Store, giving folks a clean, fast and easy interface for locating, wiping, and locking their device from afar.

Have you got access to a 3D printer. Well lucky you, because as we're rapidly learning, the possibilities are virtually endless. And if your tastes lean towards the automotive (as we'd assume they do if you're reading this page), we've got good news. Porsche has just released 3D printing data for the Cayman S so you can three-dimensionally print out your own and customize to your heart's content. Now Porsche hasn't specified just to what scale the data will allow you to print your Cayman, but we have a feeling that'd mostly be limited by the size of the printer at your disposal.

Samsung Co-CEO Acknowledges Possibility Of Flexible TVs

When it comes to flexible display technology, companies such as Samsung probably come to mind. This is thanks to the South Korean tech giant's demonstration of the Youm technology earlier this year, not to mention the release of the Galaxy Round, the world's first smartphone with a flexible display. Recently there have also been talks about a flexible tablet, and also the possibility of a flexible OLED TV which has been rumored for unveiling at CES 2014. Well the semi-good news is that the idea of a flexible OLED TV might not be so far-fetched, as Samsung's co-CEO, Boo-keun Yoon, acknowledged that devices like that could be a possibility.

2014 Ferrari FF

Ferrari announced a panoramic roof option for its all-wheel drive FF at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, promising the new full-length glass panel would offer its well-heeled clientele "a genuine open-air driving feeling, while providing thermal and acoustic insulation." That statement was intriguing, as my experience with glass roofs usually ends abruptly after I close the opaque shade - as a Southern Californian, I always find tinted glass panels too hot during the day and too cold at night.

McLaren P1 completes sub-seven-minute 'Ring run, celebrates with awesome vid

This is one of those fun stories where we could have gotten by without writing a single sentence, just by running the video and the headline. That title really does say everything that needs to be said – this is a video – a highly stylized, beautifully filmed video - from McLaren of its attempt at breaking the seven-minute barrier at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with its new P1 hybrid hyper car. Our only gripe with this short film might be that while McLaren claims it broke the seven-minute mark, we still have no clue as to what its actual time was – how are we supposed to know if the Brits bested the Germans.

Palette's modular controller brings dials and sliders to your laptop (hands-on)

Although the system can work with only one or two units linked together, we found it worked best in larger groups. The weight of a larger controller helps keep the setup grounded, and while we enjoyed the light resistance the slide-controller offers, the unit sometimes slid across the table if it wasn't anchored to other modules. For now, the entire setup connects to the computer via USB, but Chu says that might change in the future. "We're playing with the idea of a wireless version, connecting over Bluetooth or even wifi." Luckily, upgrading is easy.

The Microsoft Windows Phone platform is definitely not one of the most popular around. Given the enormous shadow that iOS and Android have cast, it would be hard for Windows Phone and any other smaller platform to step into the light, but we suppose slow and steady wins the race. According to the latest Comscore figures ending in October 2013, it has been revealed that Microsoft's Windows Phone platform has managed to gain some extra ground in the US market, growing by 0.2%, which has suggested that the platform saw almost half a million US users hop aboard the Windows Phone bandwagon in the past few months.

If you've taken even a cursory look at GM's European strategy and wondered how it can target the market there with both Chevrolet and Opel/Vauxhall, you're not alone. In fact General Motors itself has found it difficult to justify the two-pronged approach. That's why it's essentially pulling Chevy from the European marketplace. Instead of trying to ply European buyers with what are mostly former Daewoo products rebadged as Chevys, GM will now let Opel (or Vauxhall in the UK) represent its mass-market aspirations.

Microsoft's Windows XP has been hanging around for a fair number of years already, so much so that Microsoft has finally made the decision to stop supporting the venerable desktop operating system after more than a dozen years. Of course, I am quite sure that many Windows XP loyalists and fans would see this as inevitable, but it is a rite of passage in life that one has to go through as well. China, however, (or at least in this case, the government) would like the software giant to continue supporting Windows XP.

With the iPhone 5s, Apple has introduced Touch ID which basically provides its users a layer of security that identifies the user through their fingerprints. While Touch ID is reported to be pretty decent and responsive, it does not mean that it is the perfect system, and a recent Apple patent has suggested that the Cupertino company could be looking at facial detection/recognition as a means of providing added security as well. However as with the case with most patents, there's no telling if and when Apple will implement it, but based on our understanding of this particular patent, it does sound like a pretty good idea.

Nissan leaning on JATCO to remedy CVT problems

Nissan leaning on JATCO to remedy CVT problems

Nissan's decision to fit continuously variable transmissions across even more of its new models may be coming back to bite the Japanese automaker, as it's been hampered by customer satisfaction issues relating to its XTronic CVTs, which are provided by a supplier called JATCO. From what we're understanding, the issue largely relates to customers' unfamiliarity with the non-traditional shift nature of a CVT. Dealers have reported complaints and service visits from owners over the belt-driven automatics (did these people not test drive the cars before they bought them and notice that they don't shift conventionally?).

Nissan NV200 recalled over wiring harness

Nissan NV200 recalled over wiring harness

The Nissan NV200, the van that's meant to act as the backbone of the New York City taxi fleet, is being recalled. Compared to some of the recalls we've seen this year, the 2,529 NV200s needing repairs is not a particularly huge deal – but try telling that to their inconvenienced owners and drivers. The recall affects NVs built between February 6, 2013, and August 2, 2013. The vans in question use a wiring harness near the battery that may wear through its protective covering, causing a short.
