Xbox Head Don Mattrick Leaving Microsoft For Zynga [Rumor]

Microsoft's head of all things Xbox, Don Mattrick, is reportedly leaving the company in order to move on to a new position at Zynga, according to multiple sources. If the news turns out to be true, we can expect an announcement as early as today. We think it's safe to say Microsoft didn't have the best showing at E3 2013 as the price of their Xbox One was undercut by Sony's PlayStation 4 by $100 and they received the wrath of the Internet when they announced they would be attempting to take on the used game market with the console's tagging system which would only allow a game to only be sold only once.

IRL: Chromebook Pixel and AlienBees' ABR800 Ringflash

Sure, the Chromebook Pixel is expertly constructed, but you won't find more than a sentence about that here. Nope, we'd rather talk about its blazing fast LTE speeds. Chromebook Pixel.
Chromebook Pixel reviewhuge

In fact, my specced-out MacBook Pro from 2011 - which relies on an HDD - feels antiquated in comparison. The load times are noticeably slower when relying on a conventional HDD instead of an SSD. But beyond all that, the Pixel has made me fall head over heels in love with inbuilt LTE.

DirectX 11.2 Will Be Exclusive To Windows 8.1 And Xbox One

Microsoft has now confirmed that DirectX 11.2 will be exclusive to Xbox One and Windows 8.1. The company hasn't provided any technical reasons as to why it is being limited, perhaps its being done to encourage users on Windows 7 and Windows XP to upgrade to the latest version of Windows. Both Windows 8.1 and Xbox One are going to be released later this year, a preview of the former has already been rolled out. Windows 8.1 will be available as a free update for all current Windows 8 users. Xbox One is expected to release this November.

Microsoft has made this exact same move in the past as well.

What are the most critical skill gaps impeding technology companies?

Rightly or wrongly, a perception has emerged, in recent years, whereby entrepreneurs of growth companies in the UK technology sector, believe that seeking and obtaining investment, and the commercialisation of that technology, is getting far more difficult.

Brahmin Theo iPad/Tablet Bag review

Right after I wrote my recent news item about the Theo iPad Bag from Brahmin, I set about finding one for myself.  I promptly ordered the bag in the crocodile-embossed leather in Pecan.  The bag arrived recently.  Is it everything I hoped.
All images can be clicked for an enlarged view.

The Theo bag is made of genuine leather that's been embossed with a crocodile pattern.  They call their embossed leathers “Melbourne”; they are embossed to look like exotic skins, but they are made from cowhide.
